contemporary anti-Semitism has added the Jewish state to its list of targets Yep, and there's not an insignificant number of "I'm anti-Israel but not anti-semitic" creeps right here on FR. Thankfully, few of us buy that bald-faced lie.

In retrospect, Brian Mulroney was undeserving of the vilification he received at the end of his tenure and for some years afterward, especially from other Canadian conservatives.
History will judge him more kindly than it will judge his successor.

All true of course, and it's just another way of saying that anti-Zionism is anti-semitism. And Arab countries aside, this resurgent Jew/Israel hatred appears to be most prevalent in countries where leftist-Socialist pols are in charge, and anti-Americanism is also on the rise. Perhaps Mulroney and other Conservatives in Canada can begin to wrench that envious and petty gang up north back to sanity.

It's been my suspicion all along that deep down, the French and Germans still hate "the Jew". And I think that goes a long way to explaining their current behaviour, shameful as it is.

<< Nor does it mean that a strong defence of Israel's right to security precludes the acceptance of a Palestinian state whose citizens come to know the benefits of health care, educational excellence, economic opportunities and growing prosperity similar to those available in Israel. >>
There is "a Palestinian state whose citizens .... know the benefits of health care, educational excellence, economic opportunities and growing prosperity."
It is called Israel.
And the sooner it rids itself of the unassimilable islamofascist Jordanian, Lebanese, Syrian and Egyptian invaders that so squalidly squat and bemanure its Judea, Sumeria and Gaza Territories the better!

This does not mean that Israel should be immune from criticism. Yes it does - see post #2.
