I know what you mean. It's worse with non-shooters. Years ago (when I was in school!) I had a discussion about the 2A with a friend. She had written a paper in favor of gun control (the usual left wing liberal social sciences paper), and I mentioned that the 2A was an individual right. She thought I was crazy because, in her mind, everyone knew that is was a collective right for state forces. I discussed Miller, and she had never heard of it. I went to a law library and printed a copy of it and handed it to her. She never read it, even after I placed it in her hand.
Obviously she prefers having her head in the sand or somewhere else where the sun don't shine.
