Senator John Edwards, Yet Another Democrat Double Standard Posted Monday, February 10, 2003 | Email a Comment

Presidential Nominee Hopeful Campaigns At Former Slave Owner Home Campaign Decision Comes Less Than Three Months After Lott Resignation

Democratic presidential nominee hopeful Senator John Edwards (D-NC) has proven yet again that he will say and do whatever is needed to gain the democratic nomination, proving yet again practicing the democrat “do as I say, not as I do” philosophy.

In the midst of the now infamous Strom Thurmond birthday party, presidential nominee hopeful John Edwards has decided to campaign at the home of former confederate hero, William Aiken, Sr. It has come to the attention of Generation GOP Mr. Aiken’s home is famous for being a former slave house in South Carolina.

Just last December, Democrats attacked and questioned then Majority Leader Trent Lott. Public scrutiny and respect for the Republican Party forced Senator Lott into resignation from party leadership. Less than three months later, Senator Edwards’ decision to campaign at the famous slave owner’s home exemplifies the very definition of the word, “hypocrisy.”

“This is just another example of the democrats picking and choosing what is morally right on one day, yet not applicable the next,” said Generation GOP Executive Director Josh Cooper. “I do not think Senator Lott’s comments were appropriate nor do I think Senator Edwards’ actions are acceptable. Young people across the country do not want leaders who flip flop for political gain. Perhaps this is why the young people are trending towards conservative leadership.”

Senator Edwards’ double-speak on this issue is yet another example of Democrat double speak and double standards.

In most recent polls, Senator John Edwards trails Senators Joe Lieberman and John Kerry for the Democratic nomination for president. Despite the other candidates’ lead, Senator Edwards has picked up support from former president Bill Clinton and has hired several high profile Democratic aides to his campaign.

“Senator Edwards’ is content to flip and flop on the issues from state to state,” said R. Stuart Jones, chairman of Generation GOP. “America needs a leader who sets an agenda and moves the nation to real conservative progress.”

According to RNC Research, Senator John Edwards votes against President Bush’s Bipartisan tax relief package and even voted against a ban on partial birth abortions. Furthermore, from 1999-2002, Edwards voted with Senator Ted Kennedy 90% of the time and with Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton 89% of the time.

Can anyone imagine the firestorm from the news media if any Republican held a meeting or fundraising at the Aiken home, or anything like it???????

The media double-standard is unbelievable on this.

In most recent polls, Senator John Edwards trails Senators Joe Lieberman and John Kerry and everybody else except Al Shaprton for the Democratic nomination for president.

This is interesting:

Despite the other candidates’ lead, Senator Edwards has picked up support from former president Bill Clinton and has hired several high profile Democratic aides to his campaign.

Yes indeed, it is interesting. Edwards fancies himself as a Clinton-like candidate and apparently, to do high level Democrat operatives and the former president himself.

It was meant to illustrate the folly of Conservatives engaging in the race-bating tactics of Left.

Excellent statement, Polybius. I agree with your points 1-5. Perhaps it's time for a little history lesson for neo-cons and liberals.

They might forget, the conservative stronghold of the South is not for sale. We don't like to be lied to, stabbed in the back, or played the fool. Oh yeah, we don't forget either!

Despite the other candidates’ lead, Senator Edwards has picked up support from former president Bill Clinton ....
