According to my neighbor, who just so happens to be our local rep for HGC/MMM, American Anti-gun groups are the 1s that really pushed this issue up in Canada. She tells my wife that the thinking was to use the smaller country to see what problems would pop up in the process so that they will be more able and ready to address them when they push the US for the same system here. She says that the biggest thing on the Anti agenda right now is getting ready to push congress to reup the 1994 gun control act. They are very worried that the election is going to interfear with it because they will have to use their resources to fight on 2 fronts that year, the elections and getting the bill up for a vote.

The last elections really threw a monkey wrench into most of these lefty causes, LOL.
