If you believe that man evolved in Africa, that means that you have believed another PC lie. This past summer I read an anthropology text titled The origins of Race, by Carleton S Coon. It was written in the 1950's. The author's conclusion was that the negro race evolved to modern man LAST. Even the pigmy race was more advanced. Modern man evolved elsewhere, in asia, in europe, NOT africa. Its a load of bs.

BTW, when you consider whether race is real or not, consider this. Any competant forensic investigator can tell the race of a skelton, caucasian or negro or asian. But there is not an anatomist in the world that can tell the difference between a goat and a sheep skelton. Yet, humans are able to interbreed, but goats and sheep cannot.

For 50 years, well meaning liberal professor types have been telling lies to build up the esteem of our black citizens. So why is it lower now than when they started? Because lies don't work. What works is doing it for yourself.

Also, if slavery was such a holocaust, why does really smart people like Walter Williams say that it was the BEST thing that ever happend to blacks in this country. Otherwise they'd still be in Africa....

The white ancestors struggled and died of starvation, disease and wars to settle this country in the first place. When do I get my check? :)

I can be swayed by arguments for the origin of Man in a place other than Africa. Still, even accepting an African point of origin does not confer black skin automatically as is being ASSUMED by those who argue for Africa.
Indeed, as you point out, the evolution of melanin as a skin protectant may have been a much later development instead of an early one.

There is more genetic diversity within Africa than outside, which lends quite a bit of credibility to the idea of African evolution. But I'm not really sure where it matters since the genetic differences between all humans are really very small. Is race real? Yes. But a lot of people confuse cultural and biological traits when it comes to race. I think many Americans would be surprised at just how tall young Japanese men are now that their diet includes McDonalds as well as rice. Remember that the Irish, Italians, and Eastern Europeans were essentially considered other races by the English, Germans, Dutch, and other Northern Europeans who settled America. Most are simply considered "white" now that they share a common culture.

Walter didn't think it through. If it wasn't for slavery (I'm not suggesting it wasn't a horrible thing) not one black person who can trace ancestory to slavery in America would be alive today, except by an unimaginably small, virtually impossible chance.
