The pattern was to be repeated three years later, when Saddam began shopping for a fast-breeder nuclear reactor, with a view to acquiring nuclear weapons within 10 years. No one was willing to provide him with the advanced technology he was seeking -- not even the Russians, who had sold him with a small research reactor some years earlier. It was not until he met with the French prime minister, one Jacques Chirac, that Saddam found what he was looking for. The French agreed, knowing full well what Saddam was up to, in exchange for $3-billion in cash, some oil concessions and a huge contract to purchase France's Mirage F-1 fighter planes. Oh, and one other thing: The Franco-Iraqi Nuclear Co-operation Treaty stipulated that "all persons of Jewish race" be excluded from participating.

Other countries -- the Russians, the Italians, the British, less so the Americans -- also sold arms to Iraq, especially during the Iran-Iraq war . . .

Just to be clear on this point. We, i.e. America, did not sell weapons to Iraq either during or after the Iran-Iraq war.

What is it about socialists and thier support of facist dictators? Is there really a difernce between Germany's old National Socialism and the emerging Global Socialism of the blame-America-first crowd?

Chirac identified with the young Hussein, he dreamed of living viariously through the new dictator, delighting in his anti-semitism and dreams of an empire. The New Iraqi Empire would annex all of Kuwait and ultimately Iran. Imagine all that oil controlled by a Franco-Iraqi pact. OPEC's authority would be severly restrained and poor USA would have to bow to the whims of Paris. Should war kill thousands of Isrealis- ce la vie.

Its almost too revolting to imagine.

One wonders what kind of blackmail movies Saddam made of Chirac back in the nuclear plant selling days.

Perhaps similar to Scott Ritter's teenie-bopper honey trap videos?

Chirac is a confirmed bribe-taker, is he not?

Perhaps the blackmail which allows Saddam to lead Chirac by the nose is proof of million dollar Swiss accounts for "services rendered" in the nuclear plant deal?

Take a look at this

France and Iraq

France's economic ties to Iraq

Opinion polls show almost 80% of people in France are against a US-led war against Iraq.

Many of those see American military and economic aims in Iraq as one and the same thing.

America's critics claim that America's policy on Iraq is driven by its appetite for oil.

But could similar claims be made about France?

Well, can't blame the French, they didn't write the language, just agreed to it based on their genetic predisposition to surrender...
