Nicely put.

And reverend Al can be president! That is, if the Clintons let him.

It is true that it is mainly a state department issue as far as recognizing dual citizenship. However, there have been several rulings by the Supreme Court, which ultimately decides whether laws are Constitutional, and my explanation describes one of the ways in which dual citizenship is obtained, and cannot be revoked.
Now, if an American born citizen goes to Israel, and obtains Israel citizenship without renouncing American citizenship, what's illegal about it? What could be illegal about it? I'm afraid there is no recourse for those who wish to end this practice. The USSC has basically ruled that the only way to lose American citizenship is to specifically and unambiguously renounce it, in writing, in the proper forum (i.e. inside an embassy or state dept office in front of a U.S. official).

You don't think of the US were to suddenly invade, oh, say, Iraq, that those Iraqi Muslims with dual citizenship (though I'm not sure Iraq allows it, but let's say it does) might feel a twinge of loyalty to Iraq, even it's more out of concern for family members and loved ones left behind than anything else?

The question assumes that people are not reasonable, and not capable of discerning right from wrong... and grapple solely with emotional ties. I reject that on principle. An entirely emotional response on your part.

I don't know very many Jewish folks. The only one I know really well is a 'Nam vet that lost his his legs to a land mine. I am against any law that allows "dual citizenship", or anyone that has "dual citizenship" and I would imagine that my friend feels the same way.

OK, why don't you explain why we gave Israel (since you mentioned the Jews) a pass when they arrogantly explained that they'd be going ahead with their AWACS sale to China? Incidentally, they later decided that, since it was controlled US technology they were selling, it probably wasn't a good idea to proceed and cancelled the sales.

How is that an emotional response?

Especially since the Chinese got a better deal for that same US controlled technology from Bill Clinton.

Jews who hold dual citizenships have dual loyalties.
The Other 90%+ don't.
I believe that multiple citizenship is incompatable with loyalty to America. That is why I gave up Swedish citizenship.
The fact is that millions of Americans of all religions hold dual citizenships. Hart was slandering Jews as a whole.

I don't know why we "gave Israel a pass", if we gave them one at all. They didn't proceed with the sale, probably in part because of American diplomatic pressure. What does this have to do with the topic of the thread?
To: Alouette
According to Bill Gertz of the Wash Times, Israel sold Patriot missile technology to China.

Since the AWACS sales didn't go forward, and since I don't know anything about the technology that's in an AWACS anyway, I really don't know. The point, however, is that Israel was in the process of selling US technology to China when they'd agreed (or it was at least understood) they wouldn't. That's why the US complained.

Nothing illegal about it, just bad practice.
Speaking of Israel, they're a little different than most, I think, in that they grant Israeli citizenship to any Jew that comes to live there, whether the person does anything or not, a practice which probably divides loyalties less than most countries, which require an actual ceremony, or application, or some definitive action.
To: AppyPappy
Noone knows...but I mentioned Jews beacuse that was the subject of the article. I think dual citizenship should be illegal for anyone, whether Jewish/Israeli, Canadian, Montenegran, Zimbabwean, German, English...

Thank you for misrepresenting facts.
The Phalcon system was an Israeli developed phased-array doppler radar system and concurrent command and control computer information system. (i have a cousin who worked on it and opposed sale to red china)
Israel had every right to sell it to whomever it wanted. You can't expect Israel to be more protective of Us superiority than the American government. However, Israel to a monetary loss to respect US interests after a request by the US government.

Thanks for helping prove my point. The ABC reporter obviously thought Hart's comment needed explanation and then Hart, now caught, hems and haws, 'uhhmmmm let's see, how can I get out of this mess, uhhmmmm, wait a minute, uhhmmmmm, well the Irish and the Cubans are examples.'
Next question -- then which group was he talking about? He was specifically talking about the war against Iraq. Then he says blames "Americans who find it hard to distinguish their loyalties to their original homelands from their loyalties to America and it's national interest." So Ok, Hart, then 'in relation to the topic you were talking about, which Americans' influence are you blaming for pushing the US toward war?'
Could it be...Satan? In case you haven't figured it out yet, the ABC reporter, Hart himself, Tucker Carlson, Paul Begala, me and a bunch of other people on this thread all know what he was talking about, but somehow you don't.
Well, congratulations for being so sensible.
