I didn't have a chance to get to the Editorial pages this morning so I was pleased to read this
Arnaud de Borchgrave tonight.
After I read it, I felt this was an important enough article that it should be read by other Freepers. To my amazement this article had NOT been posted as of yet. I tried "doctrine" and "Bush-Sharon" and even "Bush-Sharon doctrine" and came up with bupcus.
It's a little long but verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry interesting.

Israel, according to the 1996 paper, would "shape its strategic environment," beginning with the removal of Saddam Hussein and the restoration of the Hashemite monarchy in Baghdad. If true, then at least we know that there is a plan.

Sharon who refuses to allow any anti-Oslo Likud member to become a Minister and supports LAbor over the national right is a hardliner?
Welcome to the alternate universe of the far-left and isolationist right, and anti-semites.
FActs are irrellevent. Conspiracy theories abound.

I have been hoping that Bush was thinking this way, and that his contrary statements were only political window dressing. I'm still not entirely sure that I believe this article, but I hope it's true. De Borchgrave is a conservative, but he's also a heavyweight insider, and I don't know why he would say this if he didn't think it was true.
I wonder, though, whether the administration approves of his letting this cat out of the bag, if that's what he did.
It's been obvious that the game of appeasing Arabs has utterly failed. It just hasn't worked. The more you give them, the more they expect, and they give nothing in return.
Just like yellow dogs or Democrats.

Interesting insights in this article. It's good to have two strong leaders like Bush and Sharon, sharing a common vision.

I'm still not entirely sure that I believe this article, but I hope it's true. De Borchgrave is a conservative, but he's also a heavyweight insider, and I don't know why he would say this if he didn't think it was true. These were my feelings in chronological order:
Disbelief, then a smile and 'tinfoil' came to mind, then I remembered the writer.........Arnaud is certainly a heavy-hitter and I've always enjoyed his reporting and interviews on C-SPAN. He has contacts all over the world and uses them relentlessly (as opposed to a lot of reporters nowadays that wait for a press release to write a story or form an opinion).
Then, I said to myself......WOW.
I wonder, though, whether the administration approves of his letting this cat out of the bag, if that's what he did.
Me too. I'm making an assumption here that the administration dusted off this plan after 911, much the same as they must've pulled out contingency plans for the invasion of Afghanistan, the defeat of the Taliban and ouster of al Qaida.
I am comforted to know that at least there IS a plan that has been thought out awhile back rather than merely reacting to the situations and actions of our scumbag opponents.

Rhetorical statement: I don't know if anyone caught Arnaud's appearance on FOX last night. John Kasich was the host and seemed as if he didn't let him get much time on the air............de Borchgrave showed a completely different side of himself by trying to explain and defend France's anti-American position. (????????)
The article I posted (above) had some strange odors that I couldn't identify. Maybe I'm reading into it more than it warrants.
BTW.........Tim Russert just asked Richard Pearle about a similar story just now.
