On some deep inner level, the Germans are incapable of actually feeling guilt for the political consequences of their romanticism.

All nations are vulnerable in our Age of War to total belief in the goodness of the 'volk'. Until a people becomes historically aware, it is destined to be tossed about by the contradictory storms of Late intellectualism.

The Germans have proven to be especially vulnerable to socio-political 'mob-think', in which individual responsibility is discarded, and no blame may be apportioned-- 'it was just the way things were, then'.

The Germans are masters of dissimulation, at least.

I have seen what the hellions have unleashed. Hitler. Stalin. Mussolinni. Pol Pot. Ho Chi Minh. Yasar Arafat. Saddam Hussein. Edi Amin. The list could go on and on. The problem most of these commies dont understand is that communism is a pure "defunct" system.( as is socialism.) I discussed the Ideaological differences in the systems today with a young "college" man. He thought it (communism) could be a good system. I said I hope everyone in the world becomes a saint. He gave me a curious look. I said Well If you aren't doing your part to benefit the state to my likings and I'm appointed by the state. I say you die. The drain on everyone else ceases. The shocked look was priceless. I wish I had had a camera for that moment. IT TRUELY WAS A KODAK MOMENT. The intellectual awakening-it is a pricless thing.

why should they be seething if their foreign minister allies himself with these countries' views?

Why is the foreign minister so popular with such a past and represting a tiny radical party (the greens)?

it's not as if you need him to be indicted to show his red stripes. Birds of a feather flock together and it seems clear that Fischer was - at least - a "fellow traveller" with violent revolutionary terrorists. I am curious as to why these links dont discredit him?

This is very true. the leftist radicals on our side of the Atlantic have become the heart of the Democratic party (like Hildebeast) and practically own all the colleges and universities in USA, putting each generation through brainwashing. thank goodness at this critical time however we dont have such folks running our Government or foreign policy. I shudder to think what a ham-fisted policy we would get out of Clinton or Gore-style administration at this time.

If anyone wants to learn more about this fine fellow Fischer, Bettina Roehl has a dossier on the scumbag. In one of the ironic twists in life, Ms. Roehl happens to be the daughter of German terrorist and murderer Ulrike Meinhof. In spite of her parent, Roehl managed to break out of the lies and propaganda of the left, and is a fearless fighter against communism, anti-Semitism, and for the truth.

tictoc, this sounds alot like David Horowitz, America's very own former "Radical Son" who is now a force for conservatism and agains tthe radical Left.

While Fischer is a lot dirtier than I had realized, still the question remains: why is such a creep riding at 60% approval ratings? Is this hidden from the people, or do Germans just not care about former terrorist-enablers? It's sickening.

I can understand to some extent, as Jesse Jackson has done so much that is disreputable yet remains as a quoted "moral authority". Likewise our impeached Frmr President Clinton. But it seems abetting criminal is a "Red Line" even a Red shouldnt cross.

Apparently the consensus was that Fischer was the prodigal son, who had "come home" to civil society and brought the whole maggot-infested, smelly pack of Castro-loving, shiftless bastards with him "into the mainstream".

This is pure wishful thinking, more like "defining deviancy down". The snakes are let into the house and then it is pretended that since they are feasting on the dinner table, they must be house guests and not poisonous after all.
