As a U.S. Air Force veteran who was stationed in Germany from 1979 to 1982, I find it ironic that the same anti-Americanism and protests against the military that I saw then among the Germans and French are evident in the current attacks against President Bush in his stance against Saddam Hussein.

Even if we take them at their word (e.g., the "no nukes" crowd), how come they are not protesting against the nukes in N. Korea, and the attempts to gain nukes by Iraq?

I think their mask is coming off: they are really anti-capitalists, and especially anti-Americans.

"I never heard an apology or even a mild acknowledgment from these groups suggesting that perhaps they had overstated their case and picked the wrong target for their venom."

He shouldn't hold his breath. In the liberal universe its Mikhail Gorbechev who should be praised as he is SOLELY responsible for the ending of the Cold War. Being a leftist means never having to look at history

I haven't seen any reports of demonstrations in Russia or the former Eastern Bloc. Anybody wonder why?

I hear of huge anti-war demonstrations in New York, London, Madrid, Berlin, Rome, etc., ...but not in Prague, Moscow, Budapest, Warsaw, Sofia or Vilnius.

Western Europe always had a large cadre of Communists, Leftists, Radicals and fellow-travelers since WWI. They have always undermined their democratic governments whenever they showed any pro-American or pro-Western proclivity.

These people, their movements and parties are still in place. Their generally unspoken aim is to carry on where the old Soviet Union dropped the ball - i.e. to set up a Socialist/Humanist state and perfect mankind here on earth. They will ultimately have to do it by force, and are perfectly willing to proceed that way. After all, one cannot make a perfect omelet without breaking a few eggs, can we?

On the other hand, in Eastern Europe the victims of these very same movements saw first hand the results of these type of people and their twisted ideologies. They ran their governments, economies, legal systems, internal police and torture chambers for decades. The survivors of their bloody experiments in human perfection are not fooled in the least who the genuine enemy is. They know by first-hand, deadly, sorrowful experience! These people are now our natural allies, unlike those demonstrating parades of fools who never suffered and never learn from actual history.

The Socialist/Liberal/Communist Crowd never was and never will be the ally of real peace, freedom and justice - whether over there or in our own country despite their shrill rhetoric, large signs and fawning Media attention.

They stand in league with the Islamists and against personal freedom, peace, genuine self-government, spiritual freedom, justice and mercy.

They, too, are the Enemy and always were!
