[history]
The Rev. Al Sharpton's presidential bid is sending shudders through the Democrats' rank and file, who fear that his fiery, racial rhetoric could divide their party and lead to defeat in 2004.
Almost 10 months before the presidential primary contests begin, the black civil rights activist is coming under surprisingly sharp attack from Democratic-leaning journals and party activists, who say his agenda is rooted in racial polarization that poses a "nightmarish" scenario for Democrats next year.

. . . the black civil rights activist is coming under surprisingly sharp attack from Democratic-leaning journals and party activists, who say his agenda is rooted in racial polarization . . . Which Democrat candidate's agenda is not rooted in racial polarization, pray tell? At least Sharpton is honest about it and for that honesty, he'd have my vote in the primary.

go Al go

More recently, a Quinnipiac University poll of 1,307 registered voters conducted between Jan. 29 and Feb. 3 showed Mr. Sharpton attracting only 6 percent of the vote. What a useless poll. The dems are worried about how blacks will vote in the primary. They should have only polled black dems, and likely primary voters. That is Sharpton's base. He can definately motivate some blacks. I'd like to see how many.

The candidacy of Al Sharpton could be the best thing that's happened to the GOP since Reagan.

He can definately motivate some blacks. I'd like to see how many. He is definitely going to motivate this white boy.
Re-registering is a small inconvenience compared to the monkey wrench it will throw into the machinery of the RATS.

You can do it Al!

I totally agree that crossover voting will upset the dems plans. Too bad. They started this stuff. All N.Y.ers must remember to re-register by the deadline for the general election. If you don't vote as a Dem in the general election, you can't vote as one in the primary.
I'm in Colorado now and just hope that Al stays in until March.

I think W is the best thing to happen to the GOP since Reagan :)

Sharpton is head and shoulders above any other possible Democrat nominee, including Bride of Scumbag.
GO, AL, GO!!!

I don't think dems need any help loosing in 2004 but we'll support Sharp Al anyway for insurance.

Polls, shmolls. I doesn't matter what the polls say. What they are afraid of is when it comes to real campaigning and the "Debates", Sharpton will be the most dangerous thing the Dem's have ever faced. Why, you ask; because they have no idea or control over what will come out of his mouth. That is what they fear. He can bring up stuff that will make them look for a hole to crawl into and will say whatever just to make them dance. He is the penultimate loose cannon and he knows it and loves it. I hope he makes them dance to his beat! This is going to be a really really big shew!

"This just shows the strength and diversity of our party that the Republicans clearly do not have," said Guillermo Meneses, the Democratic National Committee's chief spokesman. Ha-ha! You mean the Republican party of Alan Keyes, J.C. Watts, Miguel Estrada, Condi Rice, Colin Powell, .....
You mean THAT Republican party!
To: Henchster
Living in NY I absolutly am REVOLTED by AS. The crap this guy has pulled in this city thats not part of his national persona is absolutly staggering. But I now believe he's a republican party plant all this time. I mean he got Emperor Giuliani and Bloomberg elected as mayors of NY by totally screwing thier Democrat opposition. Now hes gonna make the other Dem canidates look like corpses during debates. And if he does show well they'll either HAVE to let him speak at the CON. in Boston (alienating everyone but Mumia abu Jamal) or snub him and have his firey mouth on thier ass.
Greatest quote ever "Next time someone asks me about Tawana Brawley I'm gonna say 'Do you ask Ted Kennedy about Chapaquitic or Hillary Clinton about her husbands rape allegations?'"
To: Henchster
I don't think they how diverse they are at this moment! I'll leave that kind of diversity to the 'rats. They can keep the diversity of all the divisive ratial bigots, criminals, liars, perverts, and societal parasites. We'll keep the Republican party boringly for honest hard working people of all creeds and races.

Reply to post #2: I don't know why, but even though Sharpton represents the absolute opposite position on every issue than myself, he's a fraud, charlatan, and a race pimp, I find him sorta likable, unlike jesse jabber whom I totally detest.

The story left out how his canidacy is actually a giant extortion attempt orchestrated in plain sight.
Hes not going anywhere until the DNC pays him MILLIONS to go away.
Couldn't happen to a slimier group of folks.

the black civil rights activist is coming under surprisingly sharp attack from Democratic-leaning journals and party activists, who say his agenda is rooted in racial polarization that poses a "nightmarish" scenario for Democrats next year. Ironic, isn't it? If the Republicans ever spoke harshly under their breath about a black candidate in their own party, the liberal media and the Democrats would trumpet the remarks as proof of the GOPs bigotry and hatred of blacks.
Can you imagine the smirks if a Republican ever suggested that running a black candidate could hurt them with Southern white voters? Yet the Dirtycrats can say it about their own with a straight face and think they aren't the least bit racist for suggesting it.
The elitists who run the Dem party can't smell their own hypocrisy when it is so blatantly obvious.
How I'd love to see Orrin Hatch or Bill Frist defend Estrada by turning so much of the tired racist rhetoric of the Dems back at them. Challenge the all-lily white Democrat Senators who still give prominence to a former Klansman. Ask them why they are so afraid to "vote for someone who doesn't look like they do". Ask them what they have against a Court of Appeals "that looks like America". Ask them if the concept of diversity is just lip service or do they really mean it?
It's time to get down and dirty with these slimeballs.
