Has anyone ever met a "gun nut"? The only ones i've ever seen are Hollwood and TV creations. Met plenty of gun owners in my life. Not one could ever be called a "gun nut".

Yes. A gun nut is someone who uses a firearm for a purpose different than yours. To the author, a hunter, it's a shooter. To some shooters, it's a hunter. Anyone owning a gun for self defense only is automatically a gun nut.
