Our house is not made of glass if we were trying to weaken Iran's Kohmeni. In the world of the 80's, after Carter's complete screw up gave us the perspective that the Iranian military was larger than life, they truely were our 2nd biggest enemy in the world. Keeping the Iran-Iraq war a stalemate, as well as keep Iran from absorbing Iraq on their way to controling the rest of the middle east, was of VITAL national interest.

These Germans could argue they were acting in their national interest, killing Jewish, slavic, and russian civilians, but I doubt you wanna pretend that this is the same "house." There is no comparison.

It's true the US aided Saddam, but the DoD slapped a weapons-embargo on Iraq since 1967. There have been deliveries of dual-use technology (1.5 billion total), and helicopters for civilian use, later seized by the Iraqi military.

France, China and Russia are Iraq's biggest arms dealers (France alone sold 25 billion of weapons to Iraq).

It was A Dutchman who provided Iraq with technology and materials to produce mustard gas. France modified Mirages so Saddam could gas the Kurds with it.

The Germans are responsible for most of Iraq's chemical and biological WMD's and the modification of Scud missiles, France (along with Germany and Belgium) for the nuclear part. Thanks to Israel that never succeeded.

Switzerland and Sweden also were involved.
