Everyone should question the validity of your post. This article was interesting, in that it didn't get to its point for a very long time. In the end I learned from it that beating the USSR was shortsighted because it unintendedly opened up south eastern Europe to immigration from Islamic countries?

That damn Reagan, he's at it again, he's been out of office since January 1989 and he's still making a mess. If he was just had some diplomatic class and knowledge of history like Old Europe things would be alot more stable. Perestroika was going so well before he got in there and had to be an ugly American cowboy.

Do you really think the article is anti-Reagan? Or is there a teensy-weensy possibility that some FReepers have deified the man? I thought the article had an ironic attitude toward history, in emphasizing how lows follow from highs.
