It's easy to sit around and say, the Republicans aren't this, or they're doing too much that... Well, rather than complain about, let's do something about it. All it takes is a few minutes a day to make some emails, phone some Senators, fax some notes, etc...

There are so many people to contact on this thread, that I think we should focus on one a day. If you are so inclined, by all means, email call to your hearts content. But I think we should focus on one MAJOR FREEP a day.

So today's is...none other that George W. Bush

Email the President:
President George W. Bush: president@whitehouse.gov

Call the President:
The White House Phone Numbers

SWITCHBOARD: 202-456-1414
FAX: 202-456-2461

So, have YOU contacted the President today?

I have been thinking along these same lines all week. Concentrating on one person each day and flooding them with mail seems more effective than mailing "willy-nilly". Just sent a very short, concise note to Pres. Bush urging him to stand firm.

For those who don't have or don't want a pdf reader, this is what the document has without the graphic parts.

The only controversy regarding Miguel Estrada is his race.

Senators have supported other non-Hispanic judicial nominees with less qualifications and experience. So the only difference here is that they can’t support an independent minded and well qualified Hispanic.

Not qualified? ABA disagrees.

The American Bar Association, which Democrat Senators referred to as the “gold standard” for judicial nominees unanimously rated Estrada “well qualified”, their highest possible rating.

Not enough experience? A double standard for Hispanics.

Five of the eight judges currently serving on the D.C. Circuit had no previous judicial experience when appointed. That includes two of President Clinton’s nominees, Merrick Garland, whose Justice Department record was quite similar to that of Miguel Estrada, and David Tatel. In addition, Judge Harry Edwards had no prior judicial experience when he was nominated by President Carter in 1979, and he was younger and had less experience than Estrada.

A conservative ideologue? Tell that to Clinton’s appointees.

Prominent Democrats including Ron Klain, the former Chief of Staff of Vice President Gore; Clinton’s Solicitor Generals Seth Waxman and Drew Days III; Robert Litt, Associate Deputy Attorney General in the Criminal Division; and Randolph Moss, Assistant Attorney General in the Office of Legal Counsel have all praised Miguel Estrada for his brilliance, compassion, fairness and respect for precedent. Would these prominent Democrats support a conservative ideologue? Of course not.

Not Hispanic enough? That’s news to the Hispanic community.

Why then would the overwhelming majority of national Hispanic organizations enthusiastically support his nomination? That’s not only absurd, it’s insulting. It would be an ironic travesty of justice for any member of the US Senate — a body without a single Hispanic member — to vote against Mr. Estrada with the excuse that he is a Hispanic in name only or that he does not understand or represent the values of our community. Not a single membership-based Hispanic organization has opposed Estrada.

(Partial List of Hispanic Organizations Supporting Miguel Estrada) League of United Latin Americans Citizens, Hispanic National Bar Association, U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans, The Latino Coalition, Mexican American Grocers Association, Hispanic Contractors Association, Interamerican College of Physicians & Surgeons, American G.I. Forum, Federation of Mayors of Puerto Rico, Casa De Sinaloense, Cuban American National Foundation, Hispanic Business Roundtable, Cuban Liberty Council, Congregacion Cristiana y Misionera “Fe y Alabanza”, MANA - a National Latina Organization, Nueva Esperanza, Cuban American Voters National Community, Puerto Rican American Foundations…

200 post cards! AWESOME. This thread must stay bumped until he is CONFIRMED.

The Freep for the day is Rush Limbaugh. Rush gets around 20 million listeners a day. He drawn a lot of attention lately with Daschle, Clinton, and the NY Times writing about him...

So, we need to encourage him to keep talking about Estrada. Here is the info:

YOU can call The Rush Limbaugh Show program line between 12 Noon and 3PM Eastern Time at: 1-800-282-2882

You can e-mail Rush at: rush@eibnet.com

You can fax Rush at: 212-563-9166

You can write Rush at:
The Rush Limbaugh Show
2 Penn Plaza
New York, NY 10121

Everyone, it only takes a second to do this, let's show some support for Miguel and get this guy confirmed!

The more info the better! I'm a Rush 24/7 member so will send him a personal Email right now. Just listening to Smart Talk 870 LA(6:00am to 9:00am). Mark Larson & Larry Marino are encouraging calls and FAXs to Feinstein/Boxer regarding Estrada and have links on their website. From what I can see, all of the TALKERS are on this FILIBUSTER MONSTER! The push is "JUST VOTE."

Contact your senator -- phone, snail mail, email, fax -- just do it!

Asking all Freepers to ping their Senators and ask for this Estrada nomination to be brought to a vote.

Yes, even the dim Senators! Especially the dim Senators!!!!!!

That's great to hear! Much like when a President gets tired of talking to Senators, aides, etc, he can actually make his best case by going to the Bully Pulpit. Well, emailing liberal Senators, while fun, is probably less productive than getting the talk radio guys pumped up about Estrada. What has more impact? 10000 emails to rush? Or 10000 emails to Hillary Clinton?

WEEKEND FREEPER ACTIVISM

Mary Landrieu ran an ad saying she had supported Estrada. Trouble is, once she got elected she has denounced her support. Freepers, you know what to do. Remind her that Sen Breaux supports Estrada.

Absolutely INCREDIBLE message by President Bush on his radio message. This has turned from win/win to win big/win big. We need to keep up the heat on the Dem senators. Winning this WILL weaken them for future fights. Remember to contact this weekend or Monday. Monday I'll put up a new Freep!

Bump for Estrada!
