The Sagebrush Saloon (Or, "What on earth is Dubya thinking?")
Sierra Times ^ | 2/22/03 | Henrietta Bowman

Posted on 02/22/2003 9:57:44 AM PST by hoosierskypilot

Dubya has repeatedly stated that terrorists are not true Muslims — that Islam is at heart a peaceful religion. Just because the Quran says:

"kill the disbelievers wherever we find them" (2:191);

"fight and slay the Pagans, seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem" (9:5);

"slay or crucify or cut the hands and feet of the unbelievers, that they be expelled from the land with disgrace and that they shall have a great punishment in world hereafter" (5:34)

and other little jewels of militant theology is no reason folks should get xenophobic and do something practical like profiling at airports, just because the 9-11 hijackers were all young Arab men instead of 80 year-old grannies in wheel chairs or nursing mothers with possible Weapons of Mass Destruction disguised as bottles of breast milk for their junior-grade terrorists.

It really makes you wonder if Dubya has ka-ka for brains when he invited Sami Al-Arian to the White House, who said, "Jihad is our path. Victory to Islam. Death to Israel. Revolution until victory. Rolling to Jerusalem." --Sami Al-Arian, Cleveland, 1998.

A video shows Al-Arian uttering such peace-loving jewels, as "Let us damn America. Let us damn their allies until death. Why do we stop?"

Standing under Islamic Jihad banners, Al-Arian expounded on his views of Christianity and Judaism: “God warns us in the Koran and he cursed them. He cursed those who are the sons of Israel through David and Jesus, the Son of Mary, because of their disobedience and they used to assail, they were not held back by any prohibition they committed. Those people God made monkeys and pigs.”

Now, Dubya has repeatedly put American dissidents and folks that plain just don't like his politics back in the North 40. Either his survival instincts are lousy, or it is pure politics to let a man like Al-Arian and his son, Big Dude (Dubya's nickname) within spitting distance of him. Either way, the Feds have known about Al-Arian for a very long time and he is just now getting busted. Do you feel safer?

Do I believe Islam is a religion of peace? For some Muslims yes, for some, no

So what you're saying is that only lukewarm Muslims are peaceful. Which is to say that the only peaceful Muslim is an unfaithful Muslim. Because any faithful Muslim is faithful to the Koran, which commands violence.

And your false dilemma on immigration begs the question.

And the LAW does not protect perversion.

You, my dear, are in denial because you're afraid of what will happen if Hitlery is elected president.

BTW, where is your circle? Kalifornia? Barely representative of any conservative demographic.

I think the religious right elected GW. I also think the religious right has been alienated by GW.

Any data to support those claims?

artificially stimulated

Please explain the "artificial" part of that. As opposed to what? The "artificial" destimulation we experienced when the Fed raised interest rates to combat nonexistent inflation?

Americans don't care about truth

Of course they (WE) do. That is why you and I and all the other FReepers are here.

Link? Because just because one is religious doesn't make one right.

By artificial I mean that the FED has kept lowering interest rates to prop up the demand for mortgage money. The free market has not determined the success/failure of housing; the FED has.

But the FED can't lower interest rates indefinately. They've got to go up. And when they do, then the market reaches its true equilibrium.

HA! I live just south of Indianapolis, and am a life-long HOOSIER.

The law doesn't protect perversion, but it does prevent discrimination based on sexual orientation. Please review federal hiring laws if you don't believe me.

I am not in denial. I think that people who cannot understand that one won't agree with ANY president 100% are living in denial themselves.

Now, I have spoken out about MY opinion, and those of a FEW people that I talk to. You probably don't have any more friends and acquaintences than I do, so I suggest that you qualify your statements in the future.

And you can rant all you want to at me, but I am still going to support the President, who has, on the whole, done a much better job than any President in my lifetime, with the exception of Reagan.

I live just south of Indianapolis.....

There goes the neighborhood!

GW hasn't simply refrained from discriminating against perverts. He's hired them! He's endorsed them! There's a difference, sister!

Of course we're not going to agree 100% with any prez. But immigration, Islam and homosexuality are not just any issues. Your argument, here, is like saying, "Well, I may as well sell dope. They're going to get it somewhere!"

You'd be amazed at the amount of exposure I receive.

Finally, I trust you're including Nixon in that last category?

1. I'm not your sister.

2. I include Nixon, who did a lot of very UN-conservative things and was dishonest about his role in Watergate. He was smart about foreign policy, but not very good with some things. And I am not certain all of his foreign policy will stand the test of time.

3. I have, in my lifetime, worked with homosexuals and lesbians as part of the work force. Anyone who has worked in retail or certain sciences (I have done both) has run across this. As long as no one proselitized their sexuality to me, and kept their opinions to themselves, it didn't bother me a bit. As an aside, I have also worked with heterosexual men who were very discriminatory towards women, including harassment, so I do not think that one can claim perfection for one group over another. President Bush has endorsed a few homosexuals on their WORK, not on their sexuality. Please understand there is a difference.

3. I don't really care how many people you come in contact with. If your attitude is as negative as you seem to have here, I imagine you are driving people to the center in droves. That's ok with me, because they will probably vote for the President in 2004.

And sorry you don't like me living in the state where I was born. I refrain from commenting on your presence here.

Oooooh! Let's get personal, shall we?

You can always tell when a fool runs out of logic: he resorts to insults.

Indianapolis isn't true Indiana. It's been infected by liberalism.

Coming from you, I'll take that as a compliment. You sound like one of these least tolerant people I have come across in a while here.

Don't bother, georgia peach. I wouldn't want you to do something typically limp-wristed, like, say, crying, or maybe even hit me with your purse.

Do you REALLY think the President of the U.S., no matter who it is, is going to indict ALL Muslims. Come on.

He doesn't have to indict them. But GW went into a mosque and went on record as saying true Islam is a religion of peace. There's a huge difference!

He lied, when it would have been better to say/do nothing at all.

Did you pick the name "Hoosier's KY Pilot" because of your frequent use of this product?
