!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How did this guy make Lance Corp to throw it away like this? I agree it SUX....but usually the 10% is less than 10% 'cause of the "attrition" in basic....
Why do I say this? My son worked his backside off to get to Lance Corp.....ACTIVE now....

I hope your son is led by Marines of the calbre I was lucky to be assigned to.
Overall, many bad things happen to Marines even when we are not at war. This is what my Senior Marines meant when they said "We have to move very fast, just to stand still."
I was 18 then. Over the years of my service I learned that even when America is enjoying her deepest, most recuperative peace, there are military members out there somewhere, hurting, bleeding, dying.
And I fully understand now that "We have to move very fast, Just to stand still."
And may God bless all those transformed or disfigured by their service...

LCpl is awarded after about 12-18 months of active duty (provided you do not have any NJPs or non-recs.) The next step up (E-4 Cpl) is a bit harder since it is based on a points system that involves marksmanship, pft, MCI's, MOS promotion zone, among other things.
Sorry your son had to work so hard to attain E-3. Most Marines are promoted to it rather easily including yours truly.
