Your rant against all government not withstanding, the building of man traps is illegal, it is hardly something I think is a prosecution of the victim and protection of the criminal. You made the case you view this otherwise, I don't.

I also don't find governments more trouble than they are worth. While I hate dealing with them, I recognize anarchy is far far far worse.

This guy built a trap and intentionally set it up to mame or kill a human, that is illegal in all 50 states. I have no argument that the criminal should not have been trying to break into the bar... but that doesn't remove culpability of the bar owner for his own violations. As I said the bar owners is lucky he's only getting off with a 75k payoff... by all rights he should be facing felonly charges for creating a man trap, and since the person who the trap snared did die, homicide charges as well. He should be counting his blessings....

There is a bar owner in RI this week who likely did NOTHING wrong at all, that will likely end up going to jail because some punk band just did whatever the hell they wanted. The bar owner who set this man trap is not a victim... he made his own bed.

In all good fun, I'd like to see someone prove that governments are not a necessary evil. How many millions have been killed by governments in recorded history in a war over this or that. Even various religions behaving like governments have killed millions. No level of anarchy in recorded history has killed close to the number of people governments have.

"It's the law", "in the name of security", "for the children", "for your protection" are code words used for centuries by governments to support their various actions.

Governments take on a life of their own and the goal becomes expanding the power of government at the expense of the governed.

Do I advocate anarchy? Of course not. Government is a necessary evil which must be contained and kept to a bare minimum. Our founding fathers understood this too bad way too many people in this country have forgotten it or are willing to give up freedom in the name of........

Kinda like a barbed-wire fences are, right? I guess we need
to tell all owners of barbed-wire fences that they are illegal.
