Colin Powell

Posted on 02/25/2003 12:28:17 PM PST by americanbychoice

Last night I saw a Biography of Colin Powell. He makes me proud to be an American. Just reflecting on the many great black People we are blessed with in this country. Mr Powell, Condi Rice, Jc Watts, Walter Williams and so many outstanding individuals who have achieved so much. All I can say is thanks for your contributions to our country. May many people of all races try to emulate them and lead this nation forward towards the future that will be brighter because of their contributions to all of us. Just another older, but wiser (white) man.

From Americal Division G-2 in Vietnam where he was instrumental in the early white-wash of the My-Lai massacre, to Chairman Of The Joint Chiefs where it seemed he could only make military command decisions by consensus, to Secretary of State who early on in the War on Terror was still championing the PLO chairmanship of Yasser Arafat.

Yes, for one who has consistently taken an utopian view of the world until others fianlly had to force his face into reality, Powell has indeed come a long way.

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

Once was enough.

"Powell," Schwarzkopf told his staff one day, "is a political genius. But he lacks the stomach for war."

A more political general has yet to be seen. Well...maybe Ike...or Grant...or Taylor...or Jackson...or Washington. Those were the presidents. Now then, there's Taylor...Marshall...MacArthur...Teddy Roosevelt (a mere colonel)...McClellan...Hamilton (another colonel).

Wait a minute...aren't these all Army guys?

Have fun.
