No, it is nowhere close. However if I was trying to smuggle into this country something or someone that was not illegal drugs or a hispanic, the easiest place IMO is through Big Bend NP. All that there is between you and civilization is a few hundred miles and one border patrol roadblock halfway there, and all they are looking for is drugs and hispanic illegals. If you were smuggling people from the middle east, you could have wrapped them up in those burkha type garments the women were wearing, or if you were smuggling weapon materials the drug dogs would give you a pass.

People who do not frequent these remote areas do not realize just how open our borders have been. People from both sides routinely passed back and forth with zero impediments. While technically illegal, these border crossings were even advertised in literature available at park headquarters. You take a rowboat across the river, wander around a sleepy little Mexican village and eat a plate of enchiladas and drink a couple of beers, then pay the ferryman $2 for the ride back. When I was a kid i remember taking burros across.

Bill O'Reilly says the problem is disgusting and he points to drugs that if we secure the border the drugs would not get in. Called the Bush people on it and they would not comment.

"The crossings are now under tight watch".Hey! Don't laugh! There's been many, many improvements. I know for a fact that a Cessna 182 flies overhead at 99,000 feet every third Thursday. And I'm also told the ninety-eight year-old pilot has relatively good vision.
Jeeeeesh. Some of you skeptics will never admit progress when you see it.
