High Risk Counties
Some of the terrorists who helped with the September 11th attacks are now reported to have entered the country through Hidalgo County. State Representative Kino Flores, who sits on the state homeland security board, in an exclusive with Newschannel Five tells us these terrorists are said to have helped with the operation. Since then, the Valley's International Crossings have been under a tight watch with all incoming traffic being closely monitored.

"The crossings are now under tight watch".
Hah, as though terrorists would cross in the same exact places again, especially since high security at these points has been announced.
Yep, lock the stable after the horses are stolen.
Duh!

Valley's International Crossings have been under a tight watch Yeah, but who's watching where the illegals REALLY cross? (Other than this un-armed guy below).

Davy Crocket and Alamo patriots didn't sacrifice their lives for Texas to become a passage for illegals, terrorists and drug runners. Come on, Texans, show the rest of the country you've got the will and love of country to defend and honor American values!

I have been trying since October 2001 to get someone to listen to my experience that happened in Big Bend Nat'l park along the Rio Grande in Nov 2000 when 6 or more carloads of very strict Muslims came along. Weird experience. The border was closed, and they were very agitated. They had a map and were going off down a trail like they were trying to find another place to cross the river. This was before 9/11 so I had no reason to be particularly wary of them, but they just gave off a very weird vibe. They didn't seem to be tourists. In any case, this is the short version. I've emailed columnists that have written about this exact Boquillas del Carmen crossing with no reply and many others that should have had an interest in hearing about it. So far, nothing.

Come on, Texans, show the rest of the country you've got the will and love of country to defend and honor American values! Defending the borders is a federal responsibility.
We Texans honor American values by letting our federal taxes pay for federal Border Patrol agents.

Cheer up. They'r only passing through Texas on their way to California. On a thread that pointed out that Texas was bigger than France, someone else pointed out that Canada is bigger than the US.
I said that we needed to inform the illegal aliens of this.

Yea, let the Feds protect your borders. That's sure showing spunk and commonsense given the Fed's record in this area. And don't bother agitating for the Feds to improve their job or looking to your own state and local governments to protect your state either--just keep telling yourself it not your responsibility. Go take a nap and watch Oprah!

No, it is nowhere close. However if I was trying to smuggle into this country something or someone that was not illegal drugs or a hispanic, the easiest place IMO is through Big Bend NP. All that there is between you and civilization is a few hundred miles and one border patrol roadblock halfway there, and all they are looking for is drugs and hispanic illegals. If you were smuggling people from the middle east, you could have wrapped them up in those burkha type garments the women were wearing, or if you were smuggling weapon materials the drug dogs would give you a pass.

People who do not frequent these remote areas do not realize just how open our borders have been. People from both sides routinely passed back and forth with zero impediments. While technically illegal, these border crossings were even advertised in literature available at park headquarters. You take a rowboat across the river, wander around a sleepy little Mexican village and eat a plate of enchiladas and drink a couple of beers, then pay the ferryman $2 for the ride back. When I was a kid i remember taking burros across.

Bill O'Reilly says the problem is disgusting and he points to drugs that if we secure the border the drugs would not get in. Called the Bush people on it and they would not comment.

"The crossings are now under tight watch".Hey! Don't laugh! There's been many, many improvements. I know for a fact that a Cessna 182 flies overhead at 99,000 feet every third Thursday. And I'm also told the ninety-eight year-old pilot has relatively good vision.
Jeeeeesh. Some of you skeptics will never admit progress when you see it.
