HEN PEACE demonstrators staged mass rallies on both coasts this month, there were new faces in the crowd and on the speakers' platforms. For the first time since the Bush administration launched its ''war on terrorism,'' a significant number of protesters were union members, reflecting growing labor concern about the pending US invasion of Iraq.

My wife is a Supervisor working for Massachusetts.
When Governor Romney proposed making Supervisors non-union her reaction was "that's a 600 dollar a year instant payraise."

Nope, but the members might, if they take their brains out of neutral.

Non-AFSCME unions are dying. Those who remain in them are a bunch of DNC-cooperating saps.

When American and United declare bankruptcy, that will break the backs of airline unions.

So, let 'em protest. Nobody else cares.

"Labor's challenge to these distorted priorities emerged from the grass roots, not the union hierarchy.

Thank you, Boston Globe, for such fair and balanced reporting.

What a bunch of idiots. Most of our war machine is union made. Even if it isn't, war drives industry to new heights creating jobs and demand for products.

I remember a time when the hippies and hardhats fought in the streets. Now they're joined at the sphincters, Collaborators all.

Anymore, they're primarily a bunch of government employees. A few decent craft unions are left and a bunch of retirees in industrial unions like the UAW and Steelworkers. Otherwise, they're people who could strike for years (NEA teachers, HUD bureaucrats) and we'd probably be better off.

Unions are for people that can not think for themselves.

A flock of sheep could correctly be called a "union."

>>Anymore, they're primarily a bunch of government employees. A few decent craft unions are left<<

How true this is.
I'm in a craft union basically following my fathers footsteps. Many trades are like this. You go to a school to learn this trade (pipefitters, machinist, carpenters, etc.) then you almost always have to join a union to pratice your trade.
I don't consider all unions to be on the same footing. I have nothing in common with the teachers and government workers unions. Our work has nothing in common. We build things, they don't.
Many of us in my union are as conservative as many here on the FR. But we also have our share of hardcore rats.

One of my train rider buddies told me her government employee husband hadn't a job in months - got laid off - but that was OK - they still had 100% no duductible life and health insurance for life for him and his dependents whether he worked or not!!! *I* had to justify a gold crown in my back molar to be paid back - a after paying for insurance for +20 years at my own expense!

Well is it or isn't it???

Military shoes and hats are made in CHINA...Tanks are made in Egypt...Planes are made in Spain and turbine jet engines are made in France and on and on and on...

And our labor hating president gains "fast track" so he can give away more jobs...

Steel mills are all but gone and Farms are dying because we import "cheaper" beef and pork...(Have you seen the price on a steak at the grocery store lately??? ) Yea, it a great looking picture...

Don't get too close to a mirror when you speak of idiots...You may spot someone you know...

You can take your entire rant and lay it at the feet of labor unions. Were their wage and work rule demands not so outrageous there would be no need to look elsewhere for these products. Steel mills were the hardest hit by labor's foolish demands. However, they didn't accomplish this alone, the liberal Democrats and their high taxes and socialist programs did their part, too.

Many reasons here to join THE NATIONAL RIGHT TO WORK COMMITTEE! Support a NATIONAL RIGHT TO WORK LAW! Help stop the rip offs and abuse of union workers by thieving/stealing gangsters, Democrats (is there a difference?)and and union "officials." See:www.nrtwc.org

Best argument I've heard so far that this anti-war movement is in reality an anti-Bush movement. Wonder how the pro-war dem presidential candidate(s) feel about this development?
