Like you I prefer that exchanges between disagreeing parties remain cordial, and I prefer a reasoned approach to the debate.
That said, I do not see a reasoned defense for NOT removing Saddam. To summarize my view: We are in a battle of civilizations, we are the good guys, and we had better win. The debate you seek would not be allowed under Saddam or Osama.
