I've used these solution to help two people I know to recover files they need after getting a virus. I have an old PC that I don't use for any other purpose. I remove their hard drive and install it into this PC and make it a slave. I boot from the master drive and use an external CD burner to extract and save their critical files.
After that I reformat their hard drive and restore their operating system, do a virus scan, reload application software and restore data.
Go to set up....
Boot from your Hard drive...
...Master Jedi...
floppy boot disk, geta cces on another computer and download the data to create a floppy boot disk.
then next time install Zone Alarm for a firewall and Panicwares pop up stopper. Both are free and both work great. See if your ISP has some sort of net mail filter that can use key words to block out most of the porn. If youe email address is so plagued with spam, definitely get a NEW email adddress. Dont waste time trying to report spam mail. Just hide from it or ignore it.
If the disk drive is corrupted now it will be ahrd to get the data with out spending some $. Next time get a backup hardrive or maintain a schedule of backing up important files. I keep important date in THREE separate locations.
and finally, never buy a computer from CompUSA. Personally I have had great tech support experiences with Dell for 8 years now. I always get the problem worked out, sometimes painless, sometimes a major pain, but in the end it works out.
It MAY be possible to access the drive from another computer.
This sounds suspiciously like the drive may have gone bad. NOT a virus problem. Happened to me once. Luckily I had saved the data somewhere else when I knew they was a problem and before it went kaput.
Master Jedi was just zotted. Is this the same person?
