The French don't want to destroy the international organizations that give them power.
French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin was playing coy with George Stephanopoulos in an interview broadcast on ABC Sunday morning. He dodged the direct question: Will France veto a U.N. resolution authorizing the use of force in Iraq? The minister responded with non sequiturs, such as, "Our position is exactly the same as Russia's."

This can not be repeated often enough, since most U.S. media don't dare mention it.
Agreed. The two nations will face economic hardships as a result of their misguided leaders. France used to be the foremost European destination for American tourists. I'll bet many Americans will choose to reward the UK with their travel dollars at this juncture. I sure would, if given the choice.
I saw Villepin with Steffy. V kept saying that we need to give the inspectors as much time as they need to find the weapons. This is totally wrong. The inspectors are not in Iraq to "find" hidden weapons. They are there to verify and testify to the fact that Iraq has destroyed its WMD, as it claimed. Can V really be so stupid as to believe that inspectors will find weapons Hussein doesn't want them to find?
That Jaques Chirac,
Isn't worth our spit.
Traitorous appeaser,
And a backstabbing $hit.
Yep, and the French are toast.
It is a real shame too, I was a Soldier stationed in Germany in the 70's and had hoped to return to the places I knew.
NOT ANY MORE
We plan on flying into London now, spending a lot of time in Great Britian and Italy.
We will spend not one penny in France or Germany however.
I vote with my pockrtbook and I urge all others planning a trip to Europe to do the same.
Cheers,

Interestingly, the left has less clout in the European press than they do in the US press. Britain and France and Spain have leftist newspapers, true, but they also have major-circulation conservative newspapers also.
In the US, there are no large-circulation conservative newspapers, the left has a monopoly there. Also with the newsweeklies (Time and US News/World Report were once conservative, but the leftists took them over).
BTW, can the French hold elections whenever the parliament feels like it?
No regular election dates?

I'd like to go to Normandy someday, to pay my respects to our guys that HAD TO visit France, and never got to come home...
