A controversy a little more than a week old has been resolved in favor of the Christian Alpha Omega student club of Huron High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. School officials had previously denied the Christian clubs request to present its video at the schools upcoming Multicultural Show, even though student clubs such as the Islamic Student Union and the Gay/Straight Alliance had been permitted to present their videos at prior shows.
As a result, students from the Christian club contacted the Thomas More Law Center, a Christian public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, seeking legal assistance. The Law Center sent a letter to the Huron High School principal demanding that he reverse his decision to discriminate against the Christian club or potentially face a federal civil rights lawsuit. The Law Center received word that school officials at Huron reversed their decision late yesterday, and the Christian club will now be permitted to present their video.
The video at the center of this controversy was student produced and is approximately four minutes long. The video is comprised of various clips from the movie Jesus of Nazareth set to music. There is no soundtrack from the movie; only the music can be heard. School officials originally denied the request based on the religious content of the video, claiming it was too preachy.
Robert Muise, the Law Center attorney handling this matter, praised the schools decision to allow the video: It was the right thing to do from both a legal and educational perspective. School officials are now displaying the tolerance that they preach. This is a victory for Christians.

I believe these kids are being helped with these problems by their good and wise parents and my hats off to them.
To those teachers and schools who use their positions as power houses, and anti-God, find yourself a hole.

"This is a victory for Christians" Amen. We have already had our victory when Jesus went to the cross for all of us. Although many will try to deny Him, in the end, victory and salvation is ours to choose.
Thanks for posting this.

School officials are now displaying the tolerance that they preach. No, they're not. They're displaying reluctant compliance with the law under the threat of a Federal lawsusit. That isn't tolerance.
Wonder if the Islamics and the Gays had to threaten a Federal suit to get their video's approved?

We all got the message, loud and clear.
Leftist Tolerance=Espousal of political correct philosophies.

I believe this is happening because of 2 reasons - parents are starting to complain and the Secretary of Education has said that there will no longer be federal funds for those schools who do not allow Christian prayer or Christian participation at their schools.

Don't ask, don't tell!

Nice to see that a christian organization was originally unwelcome in a 'multicultural' program! Not very 'multicultural,' indeed!

No words, only music, and the idiot/evil(your choice of word) administrators complain it's "too preachy."
I can understand why kids hate today's public schools. They realize they're either run by ignorant nincompoops or evil bastids.

Well, it'a about time that the court upheld that thing called Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion.Only it wasn't the court; it was the light (aka a threatened federal lawsuit) that dawned on the marble heads of the school officials which reversed their original discriminatory position.
