March 5, 2003 -- ALBANY - Rudy Giuliani holds a narrow lead over Sen. Charles Schumer in a hypothetical Senate race next year, a new poll yesterday showed.

The Zogby International survey of 703 likely voters found the Republican former mayor ahead of Democrat Schumer by 45-40 percent, with 14 percent of voters undecided.

I don't think Rudi wants to be a senator. Governor of NY maybe.

Schumer, meanwhile, was out front over Giuliani 49-38 percent in heavily Democratic New York City.

Absolutely unfreakin' believable! New Yorkers must be living on another planet or are a bunch of unappreciative a-holes.

Zogby's polls in New York State are useless. Add to the fact that Guiliani is one of the most pro-Israeli figures in the country, Zogby certainly has a bias against him. Yes, I know Schumer is Jewish and is somewhat pro-Israel, but Guiliani refused to take that check from the Saudi prince and Guiliani was the first politician to condemn Arafart before it became chic.

In New York State, Quinnipiac polls are the most accurate; thus, they're the best.

Rudy takes Pataki's spot and Pataki takes Shumer's. Sounds good to me.

I hope this poll isn't accurate--if it is, for Giuliani, the hero of New York and of the nation after 9-11 and a colossus to this day, to have a narrow lead over the weasel (no offense to weasels) Schumer is disappointing.

Zogby lost all his credibility since Bush got elected, especially since 9-11!!!!!!!!!

You can't trust any of them. Quinnipiac sometimes likes to play games too.

For example, in December, Quinnipiac polled NY Democrats on their choice of Presidential candidate. Hillary came in second with 24%. In their latest poll in February, they rephrased the question. They first offered a choice without Hillary, then asked, "Suppose Hillary runs for President. Who would you like to see nominated then?" Hillary was by far the first choice, with 50%.

In December, they also polled NY registered voters on a Bush/Hillary match up. Bush won by a few points. So in their last poll, they changed it to Bush vs. the Democratic Party candidate. Bush lost by 18 points.

Did you happen to see the crowd marching on Saturday?
You answered your own question.

Perhaps, but think of this:
Schumer's pro-war stance might cause some "progressive" support to go to the Green Party. For some "progressives" the war is an issue that trumps everything else.

Schumer could be facing some serious electoral difficulties.
