How many proposed smoking bans garnered a significant protest ? How many recent tax raises were met by outraged smokers at the steps of the various states ?

FAce, it smokers are basically folks who go along to get along as long as they can have some access to their cigarette. It doesn't matter if they have to smoke in a blizzard or use the bulk of their paycheck to purchase them, They are just gratefull to be allowed to get their nick fix.

By far more than were ever acknowleged in the lame stream media. Ditto for tax increases.

As to the rest of your comments, making generalizations do nothing to further your opinions, as that is all it is - your opinion.

Smokers are everyday people, with jobs, and families and mortgages to pay. The people pushing for these smoking bans earn their livelihoods doing it.. The smokers do what they can do on their own time and own dime - no one is funding the fight against these bans - unlike the untold MILLIONS of dallrs being utilized to enact them.

Two of those well funded antis and one of their groups have recently been caught "with their pants down," so to speak in the local paper here in Delaware.

Stanton Glantz called the founder of one of the groups here a former tobacco lobbyist - which was a bald-faced lie.

Joe Cherner claimed to be from Delaware in a letter to the editor - not only does he not live in Delaware, last word has it he is actually living in France.

But the best came when cherner's organizations flood of emails and faxes to the Delaware legislature and media got called on it by both a non-smoking letter writer and the editors of the paper. Of nearly 600 sent, only 35 were from Delawareans, and on further inspection of the number falls to only 14 seperate individuals. All of those letters can be viewed from Cherner's group's website except for 3. Those 3 were pulled from the website because they didn't agree with the anti stance. But it was too late - they had already reached there mark - as was proven by the letter printed in the local paper.

The media, as a rule, has bought into the anti-smoker stance and so very little opposition is ever shown.

but don't for a minute believe that smokers don't do anything.
