They just want to give peace a chance...(and make some more money off of Iraq while Americans risk death at the hands of terrorists). Their sweetheart deals are about to come to an abrupt end.

Thank God someone is finally speaking the truth...whenever I argue about this and some ignorant moron says, "its' about oil" I responded, "you're right it is about oil," then spout off about 15 facts on how france wants to bury their heads in the sand and move at a snails pace while Hussien kills thousands of people since they are making billions off Iraqi oil deals and have the exclusine on the "oil for food" trade. Usually I have people's head spinning...yet one more reason to dislike the french!

OK so lets for arguments sake we say it is all about oil. Lets review a few ideas:
1. What if we spend billions of dollars to take over a country that will probably try to destroy it's own oil fields (like they did in Kuwait in 1991). How long and how much will it take to get to a break even point?
2. What stupid idiot of an oil company would want to have millions of extra gallons of oil sudenly appear on the market. The idea is to have supplies to be in greater demand isn't it?
3. If we take over Iraq just imagine how much of our tax dollars it would take to run this new welfare state. It would be a long time for them to become self-sufficient. I can't think of a thing I would want to buy that has made in Iraq on it.

Great points.
And why would we any other nations in Iraq with us with whom we would have to share the oil and its production with?
We invited the world in with us. Why?

1. What if we spend billions of dollars to take over a country that will probably try to destroy it's own oil fields (like they did in Kuwait in 1991). How long and how much will it take to get to a break even point? Of course I hope we're taking precautions to secure the oilfields as fast as possible to minimize Saddam's destruction of his fields. How much we can actually do to minimize this only time will tell.
2. What stupid idiot of an oil company would want to have millions of extra gallons of oil sudenly appear on the market. The idea is to have supplies to be in greater demand isn't it?
I'm not sure I understand your point on this. Of course, no oil company wants more oil on the market than the current price will bear. Increased production=lower prices. The article was about how the French are profiting from close ties with Iraq and which probably includes very lucrative oil contracts that could come to an end with an American victory and thus their intransigence on the war issue. If France stays on the sidelines I would hope their oil contracts are revoked immediately.
3. If we take over Iraq just imagine how much of our tax dollars it would take to run this new welfare state. It would be a long time for them to become self-sufficient. I can't think of a thing I would want to buy that has made in Iraq on it.
Am I reading this correctly that you oppose the war in Iraq based on monetary concerns? By reading your profile it would be the only thing we disagree on! I am for the war because I think to postpone it will only invite further disaster so money is not my largest concern. I think we should make Iraq completely pay for the war, reconstruction, and the costs of stationing our troops there until stability is returned by reimbursing us from their oil revenues for every red cent.

I think you missed my point. I am tired of all the rhetoric from idiots that think that we are only going to war with Iraq for their oil.
