Why are none of these posters in the know decrying this horrible act rather than rationalizing it with tangents about oil?

In case you're serious, COINTELPRO was an FBI operation in which they infiltrated various groups and acted as agent provocateurs in order to make those groups look bad.

Somehow, even in Mayberry, if I were slashing flags on someone's property in direct view of Deputy Fife, I would expect said Deputy to at least ask what I was doing. That apparently didn't happen here. Why? Maybe the cops are as bad as they appear, or maybe there's something missing from this story.
