Ft. Drum, NYl 10th Mountain Division.

Not another copter incident! We lose more men in training than in combat these days.
Prayers for all on board.

We lose more men in training than in combat these days. Military aircraft have been falling out of the sky for years now. It's part of the job for volunteering for dangerous work. On the positive side, the flight crew is superbly trained and they probably autorotated into a valley which would explain the lack of communications.

Less than three hours of daylight left there. Gonna be below zero tonight, way below, in Upstate NY.
To: Palladin
Yes, we do. And we have the clintons to thank for that....cut backs in military spending and reused parts is bringing this matter to an ugly reality.

Ouch. My wife served in their Air Force support squadron. After the artillery accident, these folks don't need any more trouble. Praying now, God Bless the 10th Mountain!
To: Mr. Silverback
God Bless the 10th Mountain! Amen...this division was in Anaconda. I had heard they had not been immediately deployed in the Persian Gulf. Yes. Say a prayer. My first cousin is in that division (wounded in Afghanistan).

I know the 10th has done Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Afhanistan. Probably some others too. Did your wife go with them to any of these places? I don't recall the artillery accident you referred too?

Distinctive Unit Insignia Description: A gold color metal and enamel device consisting of a white mountain formed of five peaks above a blue wavy bar and crosses in front overall two red swords point up; behind the mountain peaks a glory of gold rays radiant from center and enclosed by a gold scroll inscribed "CLIMB TO GLORY" in blue letters.
Symbolism: The white mountain symbol and the blue wave represent the Division’s World War II combat history in the Northern Apennines and Po Valley Campaigns in Italy. The crossed swords are symbolic of wartime service and further suggest the Roman numeral X, the unit’s numerical designation. Scarlet is symbolic of courage and mortal danger, blue denotes steadfastness and loyalty. The gold is for excellence and the white is symbolic of mountain tops and of high aspirations.
