Saddam Hussein is a murderer who has killed many thousands of innocent people. On purpose.

Wish all these people had cared about the slaughter of the Marsh Arabs when it was happening. A bit late now. And in all the intervening years, no international aid was given to the refugees, because they had fled to Iran. They were not a fashionable cause.

I watched ABC's Nightline and was amazed by Ted Koppel last night. No, I was simply shocked. ABC's news reporting was actually even-handed and responsible. Expect we will see more of that tonight.

I'm glad you reminded me - I'm surprised no coverage of last night either - Koppell interviewed the Iraqi UN Ambassador - at one point Koppell asked the stupidest question to him to the effect, "you're a human being, but of course you can't really say anything, but are you scared about what could happen to your family back home" and the Ambassador started his usual mindless ramblings and then said that Iraqis didn't share freedoms there like they do here and he hoped one day Iraqis would have many of the freedoms we have here. I couldn't believe what he was saying and couldn't help but smiling as they will have that chance, probably a lot sooner than he thinks ;)

Having seen the body bags, it's worse than any of you who were not there in 91 could imagine. And it's going to be even worse this year.

More on Saddam Hussein, one man weapon of mass destruction ...

If you still think the world is a better place leaving Saddam Hussein
in power, I urge you to read the UN Human Rights Report on Saddam
Hussein's Anfal campaign and genocide of the kurds. He killed
several hundred thousand kurds in that brutal genocide, tens of
thousands of them with chemical weapons:
http://www.hrw.org/reports/1993/iraqanfal/
(Warning this next link is quite graphic - it is about Halabja, the town
where 7,000 kurds were killed in one day by Saddam's chemical attack:
http://www.kdp.pp.se/chemical.html

Saddam and his Baathist regime has killed tens of thousands of political
prisoners and opponents, uses torture on prisoners routinely, and
has even ordered the torturing of children in front of their own parents.
http://www.scotlandonsunday.com/thereview.cfm?id=188452003

Iraqis who have escaped his regime almost universally express the wish
that his brutal regime be overthrown. To let Saddam stay in power is to crush
their hopes for freedom and civilized Government.

Says an iraqi refugee: "Your anti-war campaign has become mass hysteria
and you are no longer able to see things properly."
