Insofar as companies are concerned with their bottom line, it is important for them to understand that there are greater consequences to offending the tens of millions of conservatives in this country than GLAAD.

Why would tens of millions of conservatives go to the wall for Michael Savage?

If this was about Rush Limbaugh, you bet, I'd join in.

But Michael Savage's conservative bona fides are unproven, IMO. He hasn't earned the benefit of my keystrokes in his defense.

It's precisely because companies are concerned with their bottom line that they will bolt at the first sign of controversy, especially controversy involving the gay community. And the majority of Americans don't want to hear about gay controversy either.

It's impossible to know whether that's true or not until both sides of "gay controversy" is heard. Right now, only one side's point of view is openly discussed -- the pro-homo side. Fear of the GLAAD gang prevents open, fair debate.

In Canada, there is no debate allowed; if you say something that offends homosexuals badly enough, broadcasters can be censured by a semi-official board if the supposedly offending remarks went out on their airwaves. That is what happened to two Canuck stations that carried the Dr. Laura radio show.

I have to agree with you. I remember how he courted the Gore campaign for several days after some imagined personal slight by the Bush people (who undoubtedly had no idea who he was). The Savage show is all about Mike.

<Amen.

Free speech for everyone, but let him figure out how to get advertisers without my help.

He just goes off sometimes and says some of the strangest things. He often has his facts mixed up or outright wrong. If he were better informed and not so intent on making waves at the expense of accuracy, it would be a different story.
