Didn't the Santorum's last baby die because of some problems? Thought I read that, but can't confirm. If so, the Hill is certainly taking on the wrong person. Even if it's not the case, Santorum stands for his beliefs!

Yes, from what I remember, Santroum's wife developed a serious infection during her pregnancy and the doctors wanted to perform an abortion. She refused, and although she was treated with antibiotics, the baby was born prematurely and only lived a few hours.

Their fourth baby had no amniotic fluid around him. Mrs. Santorum got an intrauterine infection, and they delivered the baby, who died two hours later. Read the story here.

In a word, yes. The doctors had recommended a partial birth abortion to Santorum's wife, and they declined. They held the infant in their arms until it died.

This tragedy happened during one of the last debates the Senate had on this topic, and he never said a word about it until long afterwards. I believe they wrote and article or a book about it. Sen. & Mrs. Santorum are heros.
