I actually know a Marine that was at Khe San, and he has nothing but nice things to say about the Cav.
His comment was that the Cavalry pilots would land in S#!% that the Marine pilots would not even fly over!!
He has one lung, a Purple Heart and 2 kids thanks to a Cav dust off..

That is the rub. Those that weren't there put up a line of BS. Bravado... but it is a good thing for moral. The truth is out there and the rivalry will always be part of it. I have a nephew that is a Marine and it is interesting. We recognise the propaganda part without saying it out loud. One of those things...
