Boycotting DOES work. Afer all.. we are hearing from Hollywood how OUR CHOOSING to turn off a certain show, or not buy a certain record is BLACKLISTING!!
Funny how when they SAY or DO things we disagree with, and then we make OUR FREE CHOICE to not watch their shows or buy their goods.. thats blacklisting. RICH huh??
They can't have it both ways. We are their customers..and if they violate my beliefs and say anti-American things on Foreign soil.. or EVEN here at home.. I will excercise my rights and NOT buy their crap!!
We are definetly keeping track of comments like this. They may be cherished by their OWN.. but "their own" aren't big enough in numbers to keep the dough coming in!!

Well I guess they just earned the nickname my hubby calls them..."The Chixie D**ks!"
Also...everyone keeps calling the new bomb MOAB, but I figured out a better name that should be written in big letters on the side...
B = Bad
A = A**
B = Bomb
S = Shell
We could also add:
"Not in my name? B.S.!!!"
Anything to make her mad, LOL!

When their record sales take a dump and their fan base shrivel up, they'll be scratching their heads wondering what went wrong.

Ah well, the only good song the girls had was a remake of a Fleetwood Mac song. Maybe Hollywood will support 'em...

What does their music have to do with the political views of one of them? No too long ago, I read a thread on freerepublic about how great their song about the soldier was, and how everyone loved them at the superbowl. Their music hasn't changed a bit.

Well I guess they just earned the nickname my hubby calls them..."The Chixie D**ks!" I've always referred to them as the Chicks with Dicks. Now I'll be referring to them as the band that was on the radio when I turned it off.
To: webfooter
I used to go see them when they were the house band at Joey Tomato's Italian restaurant here in Dallas. Back then, they were a cowgirl quartet doing bluegrass and cowgirl songs like "Thank Heavens for Dale Evans." They put out some really good local albums. But then two members left (or were thrown out), including the one who gave the band its name, and were replaced by the young spoiled brat Natalie Maines, who has literally gotten too big for her britches. They buried their earlier albums and members and try to pretend they never existed, and started chasing a hip image and pretending to be younger than they are.
I liked them better at Joey Tomato's. The songs were better, there were no leftwing political statements, and you could eat lasagna while they played.

Just like Bill Clinton who went to Moscow and tried to undermine the America he draft-dodged, these statements made to appease the enemies of America's self-defense are nothing but treasonous. Free speech is one thing, but this aids the enemies of America's efforts to secure the safety of its own people. Look, chicks, you are either with the war to remove ruthless tyrants bent on killing innocents or you are part of the problem. Sad, but this is a lot bigger than liberalism gone amuck in America. This is treason. Grow a brain.
PS: Which one is Natalie (picture)?
To: oyez
Don't they have a song about a battered wife who kills her husband. When asked about that song, they giggled and said something like "oh it's just a fun, girl song". And i thought Cindi Lauper was scary.

Yes, they did; that little ditty was titled "Earl Had to Die". I turned the radio off every time it was played. I wouldn't spend a plugged nickel on their "music".

Actually, the two sisters are extremely talented musicians, and Natalie has a terrific country music background. They do play their own instruments, and play them very well.
While I will not buy another DC CD and I will not go to any concert they play, I'm not going to sulk about how bad they are. They aren't: They're quite good, if you like that sort of music. I just don't agree with their politics, and will not support their views financially.

The DC are a product of cosmotology and sound engeneering. Let's not make our usual FR mistake. The Chicks don't need me to defend their views or their music, but they play their own instruments on their last album and they play and sing well. They also went to a lot of trouble to bring Americana back to Country, which would be a good thing, IMO, since I'm so tired of crossover junk I could cry. That was a stupid thing to say and may indicate a lack of common sense, but they are talented in their own right.
Of course, I would have never bought an album with "Landslide" or "Earl Had to Die", but that's not about a lack of talent.
Shalom.

Cat Country in Harrisburg has a poll on whether they should stop playing the Chicks. They attribute the quote to Natalie.
Current vote is 5 for and 5 against.
I would recommend only locals vote, but you FReepers can do what you want.

Well, I've never liked them, and I think the little troll has an awful, awful voice. And, their material is terrible. So, really, this is: a) not a surprise (after all, they gave Toby Keith hell over his song); b) not a disappointment.
BTW, I shouldn't say this at all on FR, but a friend of mine has long called them worse than the two examples given here. Let's just say it rhymes with "Sick Duck Chicks." ;)

I've not been a big fan of country music at all until 9/11 when the rock stations stopped playing the patriotic music too soon for me. My interest isn't lasting long. Why should I listen to Shania Twain singing like a hick when I can switch to a pop station and listen to her singing like a pop star. There isn't enough difference in my book to make it worth having separate radio stations.
"Home" has been a little different, except for "Landslide" which is very much the same - and I never liked it when Fleetwood Mack did it either. But "Long Time Gone" and "Travelling Soldier" remind me of what Country Music used to be when I was a kid watching "Hee Haw."
Shalom.

On my way to do it!! It just disgusts me, but I'm glad to see that people are outraged. I've been so pissed at that Chick since she insulted Toby Keith's "Courtesy Of The Red, White, and Blue". UP YOURS NATALIE!

No too long ago, I read a thread on freerepublic about how great their song about the soldier was, and how everyone loved them at the superbowl. Their music hasn't changed a bit.Did anyone think to wonder why all of a sudden the Dixie Chicks were interested in singing the National Anthem and singing a song about a Soldier in Viet Nam? I will give ya a clue, It had to do with the statement they made about Toby Keith's song, The last Video they did(it was shot in Mexico) and had a Pro-Illegal Immigrant theme and last but not least they(Nat. was the spokeswoman on this one also), insisted that we should not Profile Muslims just because they were at the root of 9/11.
Their Anti-American(Dim view to some), was starting to catch up with them and they had to find a way to make the fan base believe they were in fact Pro-American. But as usual the Dim Libs always show their true colors, one only has to wait(ask KD Lang). Oh and in answer to your question, Knowingly supporting the Dixie Chicks music(paying for it), in my book means you don't mind giving money to Anti-Americans and their cause.
To: MoJo2001
We will just ban them MoJo!!
Thumbs down on the Chicks!

They are well packaged and can put on a dandy of a concert. I thought the best thing they did was a disc called something like "Thanks to Dale Evans", a colection of Western style songs. Oh, I doubt it was a commercial success be cause didn't have the fluff of their other work. I had hope that would record some more traditional music in the future, but that dosen't matter to me now as I wouldn't listen to it.
