I would recommend keeping a low profile until you get out of college. You don't want to be punished for your view (this happens more than you probably realize). As far as your debate, it sound like you did a good job but I would recommend sticking to ONE SINGLE POINT because the tactic most liberals use is to try and change course rapidly when you start to near an actual logical conclusion. For example, when you two were discussing the chances of Bush gettin re-elected, your facts were starting to look as if your point was correct...then she quickly changed the subject to "forcing our views on others". I know it's difficult to keep on track but it's the only way a liberal can be forced to face an actual logical result. Good luck in the future!

What you said can be boiled down to Rhetoric 101: Stick to (and attack their) premise. It's as simple as that. Just make sure you know WHAT that premise is, because sometimes with the libs, it's implied.

I kept a HIGH profile as a conservative at *UC Berkeley* and had NO problems. I even had a few people admit that I changed their minds (what I got was, "Well...uh...if conservatives really WERE like you we'd listen to them...", followed by a forced explanation from me that I really, truly, was a conservative). I say stick to your guns! People admire honesty. Just don't *humiliate* someone in your arguments, if it's meant to be harmless debate. Leave them a way out. A tiny escape valve you know is there that they'll take, that saves them face, but gives you the win.

Of course, if you're in the argument for the KO; if the debate really matters -- sock that premise, destroy it, and then point out contradictions in their argument even GIVEN their premise. ;-)

I'm 27, so I'm not THAT far outta school, it can't have gotten that more intolerant. It's bad, yeah, but I'm telling you, keep fighting the good fight. I fought it for years. Don't hide your views unless you're at a party or something. ;-)

Oh, all you guys talking about conserv-o-babes: Mama always said, date da liberal chickies, cuz they're fast, loose, and easily manipulated...but MARRY the conservative girl, even if she may end up with a leash around ya. Muhahaha!
