Blix And The Dixie Chicks
In the long run, who most harms the United States? Is it clueless U.N. bureaucrats like Hans Blix, feckless French leaders like Jacques Chirac, or radical Islamic terrorists? They all make a contribution, but at the end of the day I believe we have more to fear from the anti-American crowd right here at home.
The latest members of the "hall of shame" are the Dixie Chicks, one of whom, Natalie Maines, began a recent London concert with these words, "Just so you know, we're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas." Here we are at the cusp of war, our men and women in uniform ready to march into Hussein's hell, our government under fire from "friend" and foe alike, and the multi-millionaire Dixie Chicks lob a grenade home.
If only their ingratitude was an oddity, but, unfortunately, the "blame America first" crowd is not just in the streets of Paris and Berlin. Its denizens are right here among the most privileged and blessed of our country. Read the words of novelist Tom Robbins writing in the Seattle Weekly. He says of his country, "Quite probably the worst thing about the inevitable and totally unjustifiable war with Iraq is that there's no chance the United States might lose it."
In case you missed this, it is worth repeating because it strikes at the heart of the "anti-war" movement. A recent demonstration in California devolved into an attack on a memorial to those who died on September 11th. The memorial had been lovingly maintained by average Americans since that terrible morning to honor their fellow citizens who died for no other reason except for the fact that they were Americans. This so enraged the "peace" demonstrators that they ripped up 87 flags and smashed nearly a dozen memorial tiles. The memorial has been rebuilt and is now bigger than before. But what explains this self-loathing hatred that beats so strongly in the hearts of so many?
I saw the seeds of it in dozens of schools I visited during my 18-month presidential campaign. From Vermont to Minnesota, from Iowa to Georgia, I was confronted in classrooms by kids as young as 10 or 11 who had been taught every one of America's flaws and nothing about our greatness. For many of these children - America's children - the sacrifices at Concord Bridge, in the fields of Antietam and on the beaches of Normandy were unknown and meant nothing. They sit on the shoulders of heroes, but all they can see is the distorted picture of a nation painted for them by hateful ideologues.
No one can match our smart bombs. The satellites we have circling the earth can spot a terrorist's car pulling out of a driveway in Cairo. The firepower on a U.S. aircraft carrier is beyond match in the history of the world. But none of it will help us prevail in the dark days ahead if we do not rearm the hearts and souls of our children. How do we accomplish this? By teaching them to love God and to know He is the author of our liberty; to cherish this good and decent land; to appreciate the spilled blood and the patriot graves. In short, we must teach our children to love and to honor the values we love and honor - our American values.

They have studied the current flame being lit back in Texas.
Following the recommendation that came from it they will now change their name to the "BAGHDAD BABES". BLIXIE CHICKS just doesn't say it all.

It is a sad day when antipatriotism becomes "Cool." Our schools have failed to teach what life is really like in other countries and the precious freedoms that we have. All the "mouths" spewing forth antiAmerican rhetoric would be shot down in many other countries.

ACtually, wasn't Mini-Me born in CT?
I went to the Chixie Dicks web site to post nasty comments relative to Main's vast and expanding size, but they wanted me to sign up first.

Gary "The Machine Rages On" Bauer just can't stop commenting on the music industry, can he?
Where was Gary when his country needed him the late 60s?

Texas is a big place, and you'll find lots of responses, but I'll give you two from the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
One of the talk show hosts on the local radio station was really hammering the Dixie Chicks (Natalie Mains in particular) and declaring he will never listen to any of their music again. And the biggest local country station (or perhaps second-biggest, there is some spirited discussion about who's number one) has quit playing their music at least for a while. They've set up a poll on their website, and in the end they'll do what the public wants, but they're not playing Dixie Chick music any more unless the public demands it.
Which is probably as good a way as any to find out if the Dixie Chicks speak for Texas or not.
PS. The DJ from the country station said they're going to send the comments from their poll to the Dixie Chicks regardless of how it turns out overall, and I expect there will be some . . . interesting comments.

I can't speak for all of Texas but around these parts..Dallas/Ft.Worth several of the radio stations have been flooded with comments against the Chicks. One CW station KSCS has a place where you can address comments to the Dixie Chicks and they will send them the comments. I have gone to every web site I can find and given my thoughts about them. I am a sixth generation Texan and VERY proud our President is from Texas.

I hope most C&W lovers boycott the Chicks. They'd be out of business real quick.
Why didn't they say this in a concert in Texas?
Dixie chickens if you ask me!

Yep, Texans are PO'd BIG Time. All of the Country Music radio stations are getting flack and taking polls of their listeners.

Hans Blix has done more damage because he has given the anti-US regimes in France, Germany and Europe all the ammunition they want to blast the US, weaken US diplomacy and foment anti-Americanism around the world. He is a willfull collaborator with America's enemies.
The Dixie Chicks are a bunch of no-talent jackasses who have no impact on anything except drug-addled MTV addicts.

I watched the local noon-time news on one of the major DFW tv stations, and was shocked that they had a story about the DC's comments. This story has legs and is just beggining to get noticed.

Just to be clear: I abhor what the Dixie Chicks said and their stupidity and anti-patriotic blather. But when push comes to shove and you add up the worldwide calculus of what happens and when the Dixie Chicks are less than irrelevant. Just stupid anti-US morons, thats all.

As a representative of a Texas family currently residing in another state, where these gals spend a lot of time recording, my response is: Speak for yourself, blondie. We're not exactly honored that you claim Texas as home. But, bless your heart, you apparently don't know any better.

The Dims have become the
blixiecrat party. They only support war under Democratic Presidents, and then only when they know he doesn't really mean it. They believe that inspections must continue until war is no longer possible, or until an incident that can become an election issue occurs, whichever is last.
Any war that will be successful, and which will increase the popularity of a Republican President must be obstructed at all costs, even while pretending to support the troops or the goal. The ultimate point of politics is to gain power, not to protect America and provide for its welfare. Blixiecrats.

Chris Baker, intrepid host of the afternoon show on 950 KPRC-AM, has revoked the Texas citizenship of the whole damn band.
