Dear Ms. Maines, I've been a loyal fan of your group for many years now, own every album you've made, and have been to several concerts, but today I'm terribly disappointed.
I am an officer in the US Army and a devoted patriot to the United States of America. Ive listened to country music all of my life because that genre of music best supports my religion, values, and ideals. I am from the Midwest, was raised with cherished values, and am proud of both my country and of the military in which I serve.
Ive served in combat on three separate occasions; Panama in 1989 and Somalia in 1993, and as a medical evacuation pilot in Kosovo. Ive been shot at, have lost friends, and saved lives of the very people we oppose.
I ask you this Ms. Maines, have you ever witnessed that of which you speak with your own eyes? I question your personal experience in such terrible events in the world that qualifies you to be ashamed of OUR President?
Ive witnessed with my own eyes children starving because a ruthless dictator orders their food taken for his militia. Ive met and talked with those in a nation pleading for help. Ive carried those who have been the victim of a regime such as Saddams.
You talk of shame in that OUR President, elected by OUR nation, representing the majority of AMERICANS under a democratic society, simply because he claims the very state that you call home? I question your statement and commitment to America in that you made it in another country.
Ive been to your concerts and know you enjoy getting the crowd fired up, but this goes too far. Whether you support the troops or not, you spat in the face of YOUR country in your comments.
You are correct in that you do have the freedom to speak your mind, this I defend and would give my life to maintain for ALL Americans, but we have rights too. We, your fans who helped elevate you to the status you so greatly enjoy, have the right to speak out against you.
After today, I will own, nor will I purchase, any more of your recordings, and I will not attend events that you participate or attend. I will write letters to stations that play your music requesting that they refrain from doing so, and I will petition corporate supporters of your tours and careers to drop you.
The power of the people is a very persuasive thing Ms. Maines, and youve enraged a large group of very patriotic people.
No longer a fan,
CPT Andy Baldwin, US Army

I understand that Gov. Ridge, head of Homeland Security is condsidering change the "Orange" code to "Blonde" in honor of the Dxxxx Cxxxxx. It is felt more reflective of the danger to this country.

I am an officer in the US Army and a devoted patriot to the United States of America. Great letter. Too bad she will probably never read it past this point. She'll most likely rip it up and dump it without ever realizing the weight, honesty and value of his words. Her loss if she does.

Captain Baldwin redeems that surname. God keep him, and his men, safe.

The definition of "wisdom" is "applied experience". That's a soldier with a wise perception of the world. God bless our troops!
Im going to read his letter to my 16yr. old daughter and ask her to decide what best to do with her DC CDs.

You mean why after so many years of service is he at the rank of Captain? That's a fair question, I'm sure it has a good answer, probably that which you suggest.

I have taken all my Dixie Chicks tapes and CD's and trashed them, its the only thing to do, to make an announcement like she did is treason, stay in France or Germany don't come back to Nashville or Texas you are classified the same as a Jane (traitor) Fonda.

I was a Dixie Chicks fan myself because they remained "Country" when Country music was turning "pop". Not any more.
If she (they) wanted so much to impress their European audience by trashing our President and shaming our Country, well then, Europe is where their only fan base will be from now on, and therefore, they might just as well stay there because I'll bet Texas and the rest won't welcome them back all that warmly!
Thank God for people like Darryl Worely, Alan Jackson and Charlie Daniels and the like!

Of course for her to read it, someone will have to stuff it up her arse. As that is where her head is.

Don't water down what Jane Fonda did by comparing her actions in Viet Nam to Natilie Maines comments. By many accounts, Jane Fonda cost POWs THEIR LIVES by passing notes given to her in confidence to the VC prison guards.
Maines is a moron, and a poor American. But nowhere near the same magnitude as Fonda. That bitch should have gone away for treason.
