When I was 40, I tried very hard to get in shape. At the pinnacle of my performance, I managed to complete a 15 mile non-stop skate in 66 minutes. That feat was made possible because my doctor put me on Beconase for my allergies. It had the side effect of eliminating all the pain in my back, knees and ankles. When the prescription ran out, I felt like I'd been mugged with a baseball bat. That 66 minute time dropped to 72 minutes and hurt like hell.

For comparison, my son skated that same 15 mile path in a pack with some rather elite inline skaters. He completed the circuit in 44 minutes.

I'm tired and all I did is read your post. LOL

I used to enjoy running. When I was a kid I used to ride my bike everywhere. Those were the days.

Sounds like the final call. Not to fear though, our Military is the best fighting force on the planet. We are totally prepared for anything Saddam throw's our way, anything.

I remember the gulf war, I was in College then and all of us (friends) were scared as hell and had alot of friends and family over there. We're still scared now, and the same circumstances apply, but this is a justified cause for war and it must be done.

God bless the Military and the USA.

IMHO, both Bill and Hillary are waiting in the wings for a catastrophe. They are documented 5th columnists who sold our national defense secrets to at least the Chinese. The Clintons counted the petro-dollars and the Jews lost.

GW has either fallen for the New World Order siren songs of diplomacy or the delays were required by the XXX42 gutting of our military, exhausting our troops and weapons systems while he squandered resources on PC agendas and compromised our sovereignty.

Saddamn will get in a sickening body counts in theater, but God willing, our tactical nukes will vaporize all known and suspected command & control centers. The question is: how many Americans here at home will die from Islamic French allies?

I believe that Bill Clinton is a supercritical national security risk. IMO, he is conspiring with the neo-fascist, post-communist, world socialist movement, their elite's beach head is the UN.

The black pox and nukes could render the depopulated USA a crippled 2nd world nation. Read Mein Koran and Mo'ham's Hadith, the desert bandit's Sword of Islam 'Art of War'.

The world is at war with us. Our sovereign Republic can fail because of devastating attacks or a million paper cuts. Under XY43, we must finally take the war to our enemies, post-communist, pan-Islamic, and French and the UN fascists. We must get defend our children's future now.

I've never been able to run. In addition to the heart and lung limits, my joints have little cartiledge. That's why I selected inline skating. Less pounding. At 16, I competed in judo tournaments and rode 50+ miles on my bike each weekend. No more :-( It's time to acknowledge the consequences of old age and choose something more appropriate.

My son called my wife while she was at work. He will be the last member of his unit to fly to Kuwait. He has been tasked to ensure all the gear gets loaded.

Many of us feel the same way, guys. I'm 47 and a former KC-135 Aircraft Commander in SAC (47, but in better shape than when I was 21...). SAC no longer even exists. They sure as hell still have tankers, though. Send me through a good refresher course, and I guarantee you I could do it again if need be. I contacted the MPC (Military Personnel Center) before Desert Storm hit and offered my services. They thanked me very nicely; said "they just might" need me. They didn't, of course. We whupped 'em so handily, so quickly...........and this time it'll be even more brutal. I pity the Iraqis. I really, really do.

Not their leadership, mind you........their average grunt in the trenches. Walking dead.

It's now time for us to send OUR sons, our nephews.......and that is the hard part.

When I was in high school I joined the wrestling team. It was an interesting experience. It actually helped me come out of my shell a bit so it was good.

Sounds like your fifty mile rides put anything I'd do to shame. Course I didn't have a ten speed or anything. I had some 20" bike that I modified and rode the heck out of clear up until I was fourteen or so.

I had the obligatory paper route. It was an evening route. Can't believe I spend about 1.5 hours per day for several years, 5 days per week for something like $3 bucks per week.

It does my heart good to see that someone seems to understand what position the average Iraqi grunt in the trenches is really all about. These guys are not much more than clay pidgeons sent out to fill a slot. I feel sorry for them too. I just hope they've been reading the leaflets.

It occurs to me that the scene of all those guys surrendering from the first Gulf War should almost be evidence of a war crime in and of itself. Those guys weren't prepared to fight. They had no business being out there in the dessert.

I'm glad this guy is finally going to pay.

It's good to hear that you've kept up with your exercise. Hey, I think you're putting us to shame.

Bush can feel free to call me up

I'm with you, brother. I may be too old to run around the hot spots, but I could handle a couple thousand french surrenderees I imagine.

At 46, I'm out of shape and "ineligible

I, too, am too old and fat to lead infantry troops anymore, but when offered a job supporting a military base here in the Persian Gulf area, I jumped on it. So, crazy or not, here I am.

Of course, you'll be sitting behind a desk somewhere.

Don't count on it. There's a whole lot of grey hair over here now.

"Three weeks ago, I would have told you there was a 50-50 chance the international community could convince Saddam (to disarm). Now, I don't think anything could happen to stop it," Jones said."

Three weeks ago, most thought that the only differences in the security council was how to disarm Sadaam, and whether a regime change should be part of that plan.

Now the French not only have quit talking about that, they don't seem to think disarming him is even an option. Just like WWII, the French try to thwart their allies plans to secure freedom and bring peace, until they feel it personally. Al Quada may be moving to use France as their base. I would love to see those french hoes, in muslim garb.

"It's a very short flight from Iraq to here," Jones said. "If it happens, we'll sound the alarm and dive into the bunkers. And when we come out, we'll smite this guy with a fury he has never seen before."

HOOORAAH!
