Chosen to Suffer

“They therefore departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the Name.” (Acts 5:41).

All of us are called upon to suffer in one way or another. Much of our suffering goes to waste because it is not geared up with an all-compelling purpose. A great cause, such as liberty, chooses men who are big enough to suffer, men who “can take it.” It chooses men who have the stuff in them to endure hardships; who can laugh at privations; who are willing to give up privileges, comforts, and ease. It chooses men like the apostles who, after being treated in a most shameful way and cruelly flogged, came from that experience rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer for the name of Christ.

Great causes have a way of choosing men who are worthy to suffer. And it is through men that suffer that great causes come to victory. The highest blessings that we enjoy today came in this way. Christ on the cross, Washington at Valley Forge, Lincoln baited by newspapers and even by his cabinet members, and a few among many who were chosen to suffer for great purposes and were found worthy – bringing victory to the cause that chose them.

In these days, the great cause of liberty is again choosing men to suffer for its sake. Shall we who are chosen be found worthy?

Prayer:

Our Father, we are being called upon to suffer for the sake of all men everywhere. The great cause of liberty, with all that it means, is calling for men who are worthy. Wilt Thou make us worthy in every way. Keep the high purpose of freedom upper-most in our hearts, and cleanse us from all selfishness. Dedicate us anew to the high cause of world brotherhood, and give us the victory of an enduring peace. And so shall our suffering be not in vain. In the Spirit of Christ we pray. Amen

Sounds like the final call. Not to fear though, our Military is the best fighting force on the planet. We are totally prepared for anything Saddam throw's our way, anything.

I remember the gulf war, I was in College then and all of us (friends) were scared as hell and had alot of friends and family over there. We're still scared now, and the same circumstances apply, but this is a justified cause for war and it must be done.

God bless the Military and the USA.

IMHO, both Bill and Hillary are waiting in the wings for a catastrophe. They are documented 5th columnists who sold our national defense secrets to at least the Chinese. The Clintons counted the petro-dollars and the Jews lost.

GW has either fallen for the New World Order siren songs of diplomacy or the delays were required by the XXX42 gutting of our military, exhausting our troops and weapons systems while he squandered resources on PC agendas and compromised our sovereignty.

Saddamn will get in a sickening body counts in theater, but God willing, our tactical nukes will vaporize all known and suspected command & control centers. The question is: how many Americans here at home will die from Islamic French allies?

I believe that Bill Clinton is a supercritical national security risk. IMO, he is conspiring with the neo-fascist, post-communist, world socialist movement, their elite's beach head is the UN.

The black pox and nukes could render the depopulated USA a crippled 2nd world nation. Read Mein Koran and Mo'ham's Hadith, the desert bandit's Sword of Islam 'Art of War'.

The world is at war with us. Our sovereign Republic can fail because of devastating attacks or a million paper cuts. Under XY43, we must finally take the war to our enemies, post-communist, pan-Islamic, and French and the UN fascists. We must get defend our children's future now.

"Three weeks ago, I would have told you there was a 50-50 chance the international community could convince Saddam (to disarm). Now, I don't think anything could happen to stop it," Jones said."

Three weeks ago, most thought that the only differences in the security council was how to disarm Sadaam, and whether a regime change should be part of that plan.

Now the French not only have quit talking about that, they don't seem to think disarming him is even an option. Just like WWII, the French try to thwart their allies plans to secure freedom and bring peace, until they feel it personally. Al Quada may be moving to use France as their base. I would love to see those french hoes, in muslim garb.

"It's a very short flight from Iraq to here," Jones said. "If it happens, we'll sound the alarm and dive into the bunkers. And when we come out, we'll smite this guy with a fury he has never seen before."

HOOORAAH!

Thank you for the post and the ping.

In this hour of our country's history, we stand in the need of prayer. We pray for the families that have known recent loss. We pray for the men and women who serve around the world to defend our freedom. We pray for their families. We pray for wisdom to know and do what is right. And we pray for God's peace in the affairs of men.

- President George W. Bush ,  Feb. 6, 2003.
