Heard there are major arrests and lots of stuff going on in San Francisco. What a mess there. These people actually think that violence will get results. All they look like are spoiled brats who have had too much free time!

"Mike, I must disagree strongly. You are guilty of leaving the scene of an accident when you intend to avoid prosecution, not to save your butt from a surefire whupping."
Or worse.
Several years ago, two British soldiers in a vehicle were surrounded and stopped by an enraged mob of IRA supporters, ideological first cousins to the anarchist goons in Portland. The Tommys were armed but, rather than use their guns against "unarmed protestors," they allowed themselves to be seized and carried off by the mob. They were stripped, tortured, and beaten to death with iron rods while an Army helicopter hovered helplessly overhead. The chopper crew were armed as well and could have slaughtered the mob in short order, but they, too, obeyed orders not to fire on "unarmed protestors". In Somalia, Pakistani soldiers who failed to fire on a mob were skinned and disembowelled for their forebearance. Oddly, none other than a noted Portland anarchist called the latter incident a "victory for free speech" since the hapless Paks were involved in an operation to shut down a warlord propaganda station that was inciting violence.
Now, ask yourselves why the Portland cops failed to stop and check on the flattened fifth columnist.

I guess it's easy to stop people from getting to work, when you have no where to be all day....

The idiot peacenick should be charged and prosecuted with assault on a police officer. He very clearly intentionally physically struck the vehicle that the police officer was driving.I agree that the kid was a moron, but the idea of charging him with "assaulting a police car" is just tickling me. LOL.
To: areafiftyone
That was so obviously deliberate on the part of the pedestrian!! You notice how he successfully got the rest of the idjits to attempt to block the squad car?
The police vehicle rightly did not stop, as they knew (I'm fairly certain) that he wasn't hurt, and their stopping would result in being surrounded, and probably not end well at all.

The moron ought to be charged with impeding with a police officer on official business.

There's nothing libertarian about his position. He's simply wrong.
The cops were not initiating force, and thus, the protestors have no right to block his (or anyone elses) freedom of movement.
That is a libertarian position.

Anarcists. The lowest form of all protestors.
I don't know. I'd say the communists. If I had to choose
between zero government control and one hundred per cent
government control, I'd go with zero.

You are guilty of leaving the scene of an accident when you intend to avoid prosecution, not to save your butt from a surefire whupping.Surely that is true. I remember several such cases in NY where I grew up. But I think that I noticed a foot patrolman walking along a few seconds later dispersing the crowd in front of the subject police car. That implies that this was a peaceful, if slightly angry crowd, but not any danger to anyone. I did not see any of the following police cars check for injuries either.
There seems to be a deep under current of hate of peace protesters here. Folks, we all have free speech and those that disagree with you have the right to speak their mind without being cursed, abused or treated with other than the normal respect that all citizens deserve. This under current is very disturbing.

Uhm, police cruisers moving an illegal assembly off a bridge/road do not have to yield to idiots.
The same principal applies to idiots who lay down on train tracks, expecting a train carrying nuclear weapons to stop.
These "appeasement" protestors are idiots.
If anything, the policeman should file assault charges against the pedestrian who, with malice aforthought, intentionally and aggressively attacked the police cruiser.
That idiot should be arrested, and fined for the repair of the vehicle that he attacked.

There seems to be a deep under current of hate of peace protesters here. They aren't peace protestors.
You don't get peace by surrendering to your enemies who want to kill you.
Pro Death protestors, yes. Marxist Protestors, yep (even if they call themselves 'anarchist').
They aren't protesting FOR peace. They are protesting AGAINST relevant military action designed to defeat our enemies.
To: rwfromkansas
go find your own playground and get the hell off FR Free Republic is open to all.
Now tell me why you have such a reflexive hate for libertarians. I looked at your profile and you are interested in a lot of the same things that I am. I think that an open mind will see a lot of common ground between good, thinking conservatives and Libertarians.
I also noted the similarity between Padilla and John Doe 2. But I suggest that you do not make much of them both being in the Ft Lauderdale area in 1995. I was there at the time as well, having lived in Broward County from 1975 to 1997. It is much to dense an area to make anything of that.
This Libertarian, for one is upset that they are holding Padilla without trial or any hope of release. Not because I think that he is a good guy-I really do not know. But if they are holding him because he really is John Doe 2 then I want them to charge him as such so we can know it and re-open the OKC bombing investigation. I would like to know what really happened, not the impossible government story.

Exactly. Anyone is free to start their own web server elsewhere with their own message of peace and surrender and abdication and isolation.
This under current is very disturbing.
The only disturbing under current is the one which tries to paint American institutions of self-governance as oppressive and tyrannical.
