This is the underground bunker Saddam Hussein hopes will save his life if U.S. forces begin dropping bombs on Baghdad.

The Iraqi dictator plans to scurry like a rat by hiding 300 feet underground in a refuge that has 9-foot-thick, steel-reinforced concrete walls. Sand has been pumped around the outside of the walls for extra insulation.

Just like dear ol' Adolf huh? A coward to the end. I wouldn't be surprised if he puts a bullet through his mouth rather than be captured by the Yanks.

There's also a swimming pool, a gourmet kitchen, a huge recreation room, an entertainment center and a nursery for Saddam's grandchildren and the children of his key generals.

Wow! This could be the most intriguing part of this article. If true, now we know why he's confident that his generals won't betray him.

That bunker's going to be one sorry place once they put a string of penetrators successively against the same spot, capped by a thermobaric warhead. That last will have two detonations, the first to provide a gas seal at the point of penetration, followed by one a split second later whose wavefront will be squeezed into the interior of the bunker.

The ventilation system is vulnerable. Intake system points will not remain unidentified for a year.

Soddom spent Gulf War One in a Winnebago.

He is a megalomaniacly-paranoid, alcoholic claustrophobe -- and will never go in the ground and "hole up" where he has few or only one entrance/exit.

The much publicised Hitler/Goebbels-built bunkers are for the "innocent" women and children with whom he will stuff them for the benefit of such of his barkers and shills as the abjectly-corrupt gangsters who comprise the Cambodian, German, Malaysian, Russian, Chinese, Cuban, and French -- etceteras -- "governments," for Yasser Daschle and the every-bit-as loathsome and fearsome KKKli'toon's "DemocRATic" potty and the for '"palestinian" authority"' -- and for *that gang's* lickspittles -- Peter Arnett, Peter Jennings, Elena Ceausescu Clift, Dan Rather et al.

All of whom will be for ever pointing to film of the carrion content of the bunkers to illustrate their pathologically-hesperophobic hatred of all things American.

Bedrooms were fitted with hand-woven rugs. Marble tiles were laid on bathroom floors, and mother-of-pearl toilet-roll holders were installed.

The Mother of all Toilet Roll Holders!

Just as well. Cuba only has room for one dictator.

Instead of bombing the bunker the Army should call in the combat heavy engineers. Imagine Saddam's reaction when he discovers he's being sealed in his bunker by 100 tons of cement. He has food for a year but concrete lasts a century.
