Bill Clinton spent the better part of last week criticizing President Bush's prosecution of the war on terror.
But the ex-president himself was accused on Saturday of losing U.S. nuclear launch codes necessary to defend America from a potential weapons of mass destruction attack - and even blowing an opportunity to kill Osama bin Laden.
Citing a bombshell new book by White House whistleblower Lt. Col. Robert Patterson, who served as the president's military aide from 1996 to 1998, U.S. News & World Report reveals: "The day the Lewinsky scandal broke, Clinton was to trade in his 'biscuit' with the nuclear launch codes. But they were missing."
"We never did get them back," says Patterson, author of "Dereliction of Duty: The Eyewitness Account of How Bill Clinton Compromised America's National Security."
Patterson's recollection of the national security bungle isn't the first report suggesting that Clinton had a casual attitude about the nuclear codes. In 1994, the American Spectator magazine revealed that he wanted to reward an Arkansas State trooper for not corroborating accounts from other troopers who said he'd used them to pick up women.
The loyal trooper was offered the job of carrying the nuclear football, even though, according to colleagues, he had the tendency to break down and cry in stressful situations.
According to Lt. Col. Patterson, Clinton was also unavailable to make a key decision to kill Osama bin Laden, a move that, if successful, could have prevented the 9/11 attacks. Incredibly, he claims, the ex-president ducked calls from the Situation Room to approve a 1998 Tomahawk cruise missile attack on bin Laden's lair, then waffled until it was too late.
In 1996, Patterson claims, Clinton was "too busy watching a golf match" to sign off on a bombing mission in Iraq.
In two speeches this week, the ex-president complained that the Bush White House hadn't been flexible enough in dealing with Saddam Hussein.
"[Bush] sent 150,000 troops to the gulf, which convinced everybody we weren't serious about UN inspections," he told a Manhattan audience. "That's how we got into this political mess."
At one point in his speech the ex-president even seemed to scorn his longtime friend and key U.S. ally, Prime Minister Tony Blair.
"Some of the people in the Bush administration - they get buyers remorse over here," Clinton claimed. "They say, 'Oh my God. We just agreed to let that rascal [Saddam Hussein] stay there if he disarms and we want to get him out of there.'
"We need to go to war here, right?," he continued. "So the only person who's really for the thing anymore is Tony Blair."

"Why do these two things seem to not go together?"
Because its typical of the dysfunctional Clinton administration?

The loyal trooper was offered the job of carrying the nuclear football, even though, according to colleagues, he had the tendency to break down and cry in stressful situations. Defending his appointment, the trooper asserted that he had no doubt he would have maintained his composure had Clinton ordered a massive nuclear strike.
It was only what he called the "extremely stressful situation" of being chewed out by Hillary Clinton, that caused him to break down and cry.

(There's something very fishy about this story...)
There is another story on Newsmax about X42 waiting too long to iniate a critical 1996 airstrike on Iraq.
Here is the link to the aritcle.
Two days before the golf torunament, he announced that "action is imminent" and that "the detremination of the United States in dealing with the problem of Iraq should not be Understimated."
Well, all the military sutff was ready and the national Security advisor placed a number of calls to the golf course seeking clearence for the attack to take place. But apparently, X42 was too busy enjoying the golf deal with his buddies and didn't want to be bothered. Fianlly when it was all over, the U.S. pilots lost the cover of darkness and the mission had to be scrubbed.
That was just one of the many items addressed in the new book "Dereliction of Duty: The Eyewitness Account of how Bill Clinton Compromised America's National Security." by Col. Robert Patterson, a key Clinton military aide from 1996 through 1998 whose primary mission was to carry the president's copy of America's nuclear launch codes.
Very interesting stuff. Regards....

Un-freakin'-believable.
We've been sold out from the inside and no one has been held to account.
A "steal one - get one free" laptop policy at Albright's State Department. Bubba's cell phone a three way line with the Israelis as the eavesdropping third party. Richardson utilizing shopping carts for visitors to Los Alamos to ease the heavy lifting. Loral making sure China's nukes can't miss US targets.
Maybe after we finish with Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lybia, Yemen and Malaysia, we could spare a modicum of effort working on the domestic side of this deadly equation.

You got that right on Hildabeast! Called Barnes and Noble to put a copy on order yesterday. They have a whopping 15 copies coming in. Let's see if Clinton's smear machine gets going on this author tomorrow. (Maybe it will get Clinton to shut up about Bush for a few days.) Also, I read an excerpt yesterday that details Sandy Berger not being able to contact Clinton for an hour when Bin Laden had been found, then he couldn't make up his mind what to do until it was too late. If the dems still treat him like a star, you know there isn't a tiny shread of decency left in them. This is way past the misdeeds of Watergate and perhaps he should be the one being sued by families that lost love ones on 9/11.I wonder who he was "entertaining" when they couldn't reach him for an hour...

The loss of those nuclear launch codes apparently was not accidental because they never resurfaced. I remember on September 11, 2001, a story surfaced that someone had sent a message to Air Force One or to the White House which indicated they knew top secret codes and itineraries of the president on 9/11. These stories might be related. Did Clinton sell these top secret codes for campaign cash or did one or more of his rotten bunch of soundrels do so - perhaps an imbedded foreign agent?

What a patsy for the classic "Honey trap." I don't think we need ask the question, "Did he ever compromise national security?"
The question is "How much top secret information did he reveal?"
See why we call you, "'Rats"?

Clinton = Monica Lewinsky...that's it... plain and simple.
Clinton did nothing to protect this country. He only used the White House for his own personal playground and own personal gain (disgusting as it was)
Clinton = Monica Lewinsky...that's it...plain and simple!
Thank God for a real man and a real President protecting our country.

Clearly, the is just another conspiracy by "the vast right-wingers" to destroy Bill Clinton's legacy......oh wait Bill and Hill do that all by themselves. And there are people who STILL believe in this man. God help us!

He was and is a threat to the American people. For the commes and anti-Americans he is a hero.
Which means he needs to be tried for treason against America along with Hillary...Both Hillary and Bill Clinton are a clear and present danger...

I hope these brave people coming forward will encourage more to spill the beans on the eight years of evil this country had to endure.

I'm of the opinion that Bill Clinton should stand trial for crimes against the American people........and should face a firing squad.
I'm also perfectly serious.

This does not sense. The nuclear weapons football is carried by a military officer.

The football is always carried by a military officer and they rotate who gets to carry it. As for Clinton losing his thing....It could have been tossed with the "tissues" Monica had to use.....but years ago, I spoke with a SS agnet who told me that the military always carries the football and I think they even rotate it among the service branches....Perhaps another person who knows could confirm this.....I am sure this SS agent would not have lied to me about this matter.
