I've lost 30 lbs since the beginning of the year on Atkins. I feel better than I have in years. No after work naps anymore! I've not counted calories, just cut the sugar and carbs. Consider me one of the Atkins 'converts'

When I started looking at when I really gained weight it was when I believed the "food pyramid" saying I could have 11 servings of grain a day. Maybe some people can, but not me.

The American Diabetes Association and the other official associations continue to kill and maim American with their dreadful recommendations about high carbo diets ("complex carbs"). I would not be surprised if the trial lawyers begin to level their sites on them.

My whole family getting great results with Atkins's way of eating. We were all following the pyramid and commiting sugarcide slowly. This is a revolution and food producers would be wise to adjust because there is just too many good side effects to Atkins plus the weight loss. I use to need a Noon nap after lunch but no longer and have more energy than ever. Each one in the family have lost 20 or more pounds. Remeber what Atkin's says," The diet is a three legged stool, low carbs, exercise, and fat protien". Yum! Yum!

I gotta call BS on this one. One pound is equal to 3,500 calories. To lose 30 pounds means you have to either cut out 100,000+ calories over a period of time below the basic burn rate level (2,000 calories/day for a 6' man), or accelerate the burn-rate level. Since there have been 72 days since the beginning of the year, even if you subsisted on bread/water alone (which is possible for around a month), you would have burned 140,000 calories.

Out of the blue, in January, I was told that I was developing insulin resistance. As I sat through six blood tests in two hours (glucose test) I started reading "Protein Power".

It's now March and I have more energy, have lost weight and feel so much better! When I go for my next check-up I am telling my doctor that my weight-loss is due to tossing out the USDA's Food Pyramid!!
