I went to a Christmas party last year that was monopolized by a Dem spouting off. One of her claims was that "Shrub got into Harvard only because he got a scholarship from his mother's foundation."

That would be a neat trick since the Barbara Bush Foundation Scholarship was started in 1988, and is only $250-$500 per student.

We also might examine the credentials of the media darlings. As I recall Peter Jennings didn't go to college and Brian Williams dropped out. Don't know about Rather and some of the others, but I'm pretty sure none has a Harvard MBA!

I don't know who said it first, I copied it off another FReeper's post a long time ago. Sorry, I can't help you, I can't even remember which FReeper I snagged it from .... :(

...."Wage Peace"....

Were these folks leftwing peacemongers or embattled industrialists seeking the end to a strike? :)

The point of the piece was comparison. A Harvard MBA may not impress the elites, but it surely beats college and HS drop-outs.

Says he completed high school. Doesn't say he is smart or that he graduated.

W didn't just "get into Harvard," with or without his mother's influence. W earned an MBA from Harvard. People can (and do) get into prestigious schools because of influence, affirmative action, fame, money, etc. They graduate because they successfully complete the course of study.

Seems to me you need to be more picky about who you hang around with at parties.

I want to wage peace, too. I just happen to think that the best route to peace is to remove your enemies permanently - like during WWII when we defeated our enemies. The Germans may be jerks, but they are peaceful.

I think I found who said it first. This is from 09/11/2002.

Excerpt from Google cache

"The era of Osama lasted about an hour and a half or so, from the time the first plane hit the tower to the moment the general militia of Flight 93 reported for duty."

-- James Robbins (cited as working for the AP or UPI)

The first quoting of this appeared on Free Republic in early February of this year.

"Seems to me you need to be more picky about who you hang around with at parties."

LOL. This party was for my MS Support Group. Only about 4 of us showed up, so there wasn't much choice about who to hang around with.

I have seriously considered not going to amy more of the meetings if this person is there. I held my peace at the party, because it was Christmas, but I don't think I can tolerate any more of the same trash at a regular meeting.

Then again, she's never showed her vehemence before. Maybe regular meetings will be different.
