If the protesters try to get close to critical military infrastructure while we are engaged in battle, they are going to get killed. The anti-war left will howl, but I think all reasonable people will agree that the military has a duty to protect critical equipment in a time of war.

No declaration of martial law is required to excersize deadly force on US military installations.

What they discuss is not "vandalism", it is sabotage. Shoot them as traitors aiding the enemy.

Actions such as these do not fall under the banner of "free speech".

These people are mostly cowards. I doubt very many will do anything that might get them arrested. There might be a little disorder for a day or so, then those who don't get arrested will revert to mindless screeming. The only danger is that terrorists might exploit that day of disorder.

It's just a question of the cowards to lunatics ratio among the protesters. I suspect its about 100:1, and the cowards are not going to go over wire at Vandenberg.

I could see some very serious obstruction outside the gates though -- Santa Barbara County is increasingly liberal; the odds that the sheriff will crack down, or that judges and juries would impose significant punishment, aren't good.

We contend that property destruction is not a violent activity unless it destroys lives or causes pain in the process.

If you try this destruction on my property, you will find yourself in a very violent activity!

If it starts, then Ashcroft should declare martial law.

You don't need martial law for guards at an AFB to shoot saboteurs on sight.

>>our main targets are the rich and powerful.

These dweebs need to buy a clue. Just based on assets, income, and my best guess on their criteria, our family probably falls into that category. I say, Bring it on, @#&holes! We're ready for you pukes. Just show up in the neighborhood threatening violence to the "rich and powerful".

GRRRRR. This stuff just pisses me off, and the fact that Leftie city governments in places like SF, Portland, and Seattle all but support it, really gets my blood boiling.

If they're doing this stuff on a Federal installation, they're in a Federal Court with Federal judges. Of course, now that I think about it, in the 9th Circuit Court district, that may not do much for us.

I made the assumption that "outside the gates" was county, not federal land.

Even if that's wrong, though, and they are subject to federal prosecution, Santa Barbara is in the Central District -- federal defendants are tried in US courts in Los Angeles. Even though in theory Central District trials are supposed to draw from the entire district, in practice, especially with trials expected to be long, almost all the federal jurors are people in easy driving distance and mostly government employees, students, the unemployed and retirees, who can have the time off.

Guess what percentage Democratic are the votes of government employees, students, the unemployed, and retirees living within an hour's drive of downtown Los Angeles...

I’ve done a bit of work around SAC bases. Believe me, you can have permits, clearances, etc. to be where you are, but still get jumped by guards and have twin .50’s pointed at you until you are checked out. My bet is that the military installation guards will have shoot to kill orders during this war.

I’m not about to worry my friends and relatives with this. Sure, there will be some rioting. But, after a few of these Bozos are shot, they’ll fold like house of cards.

I’m more afraid of martial law than I am of some cowardly Commies.

I read, yesterday that Vandenberg had issued orders to shoot trespassers if necessary and I guess this is the reason.
