Revelling in a the death of a girl being runover while holding a bullhorn is not something I find joy in.

Me either, but I find joy in justice. And when a hate filled person is deliberately sheilding a terrorist's propery from bulldozers is run over by said bulldozer, that is justice.

You people are exactly what's going wrong with this great country. Go ahead and ban me.

So then Bush is wrong when he says that those who aid and abet terrorists are the enemy and face death. This gal was no innocent, she deliberately injected herself into one side of a war and, gee, she got killed. And I'm supposed to be upset here?

Tell you what, let's all break into a spontaneous rendition of Kumbaya and give you a group hug so you feel better.

Don't misread or misstate my post. I'm not suggesting that anybody mourn her I'm suggesting that we refrain from taking pleasure in the circumstances of her death. The point about the neo-cons is to illustrate that there are those who outgrow the ignorance of youth. As distasteful as her actions were for me it did not rise to the point that I can take satisfaction in mocking her death.

And your point is taken and you have supported your opinion well. Normally I would be more inclined to agree with you, but 9/11 has me to the point that anyone who aids and abets a terrorist action, as this woman was doing, and whips up young Palestian kids with anti-American hysteria is not ever gonna be the target of sympathy for me, just as I will also laugh at Darwin Award winners.

Fair enough, but as dirtboy pointed out (and I had myself in last night's ugly, ugly thread, now locked,) the face of hatred in the flag burning picture speaks for itself, and demands, or at the very least, provokes response.

Probably because it was complete bull$#!t. There were two different stories on that, and the back-up-and-run-over-again story the least plausible one. She was also alternately lying, sitting, standing and waving her arms, and/or standing on a mound, depending on which account. The activists and Pallies obviously didn't get their stories straight before talking to the media. Suffice to say, the story that is true is, in my opinion, the one that gives the most credit to the Israelis.

I understand the high emotions involved and like many fellow posters I have friends in Israel and family stationed in Kuwait. The sheer ignorance and reprehensible actions of many on the left make my blood boil.

I view FR as opportunity to influence the true undecideds in the great political landscape. Our debate threads and how they are conducted may not change the views of the participants but can have a significant effect on the lurkers out there who are looking for reasons to believe in the conservative cause. I would hope that potential lurkers would come away from FR with the idea that conservatives value human life even though lethal actions must sometimes be taken to defend it.

Reread Strider in post 114 for the reasoned article from the Wall Street Journal. "Here is what today's Opinion Journal -- a web page put forth by the Wall Street Journal -- says about this matter:

"Rachel Corrie, a 23-year-old terrorism advocate from Olympia, Wash., died in a bulldozer accident yesterday. Corrie was at fault in the accident, which occurred when she either stood or crouched in front of an Israeli Defense Forces bulldozer in Gaza, the Jerusalem Post reports:

"The bulldozers were part of an IDF tunnel- and mine-clearing operation. The Rafah refugee camp borders Egypt, from which Palestinian terrorists smuggle in weapons and explosives. And according to interim peace accords, Israel has the right to operate in and secure the area.

"Corrie not only backed anti-Israeli terrorism; she also hated America. An Associated Press photo shows Corrie, her face contorted with hate, burning a "mock U.S. flag" at a pro-Saddam rally last month. (Hat tip: Little Green Footballs.) Reuters reports on a "symbolic funeral" that drew some 1,000 Palestinian Arabs. One of them tells the "news" service: "We fly a U.S. flag today to show our support to all American peace lovers, those like Rachel." If she were still alive, no doubt she'd have burned the flag.

"It's a shame that Rachel Corrie died the way she did. It's shameful that she lived the way she did."

Notice these tanks had a job to do in clearing mines and crushing IDF tunnels. Rachel was as much a Palastinian terrorist as her pals who strap bombs to themselves. The Israeli tanks are there to defend lives, not take lives. She chose to sacrifice herself, everybit as much as if she had strapped on a bomb.

Under the circumstances, sorry, no compassion. Had she continued in her treachery, she might have cost an innocent Israeli life.

I value INNOCENT human life. Injecting yourself into one side of a war (and on the side that DELIBERATELY targets civilians) removes that qualifier.

I am curious. Would you laugh at a political cartoon making light of that Al Qaeda big who got wasted by the Predator drone in Yemen?

Agreed, but it was she that made the greatest mockery of her own life.

I have no sympathy for someone that is stupid enough to plant themselves in front of an Israeli bulldozer.

To be honest, I'm at mental war with myself here. On the one hand a young woman was killed in an accident, if of her own making.... On the other hand, she was actively supporting and protecting terrorists, which puts her pretty close to the line of being a terrorist herself.

If she had been hit by a car, while standing on an American street corner, waving a sign, that would have been one thing. But this.... When a terrorist dies without harming anyone else, that's a good thing, IMO. When they do so in a stupid way, well... let's just say the humor potential is there.

There may be a karmic cost -- there certainly seems to have been with her -- but I can't help but feel some small, marginal relief that one more person like this is dead.
