Are those official Red Cross - Red Crescent workers participating in this protest?..........

I'm fairly sure they are.

I thought that Red Cross/Crescent was supposed to be a neutral organization and not side politically with one side or the other (they could choose who to provide assistance to but I had never seem them PROTESTING).

>>when the photos clearly show her simply standing, not moving, in a brightly colored coat and what looks like a bullhorn?<<

Everyone KNOWS that the Israelis do this to the homes of terrorists. Everyone KNOWS. But if they stopped everytime some moron stood in front of one their bulldozers then this would no longer be a very effective deterrent now would it be? SO they run her over and tell people- sorry that idiot stunt won't stop us. Had they stopped for her- well than everyone would know exactly how to prevent these bulldozings in the future . That isnt what they want.

I feel sorry for the guy who squished her. I think the IDF is just awesome that they fight terror this way. The other side doesn't play by rules so why the hell should they. Maybe you need to go live in Israel for a few years to see exactly what it is they go through living with sworn enemies- suicidal maniacal enemies- all around and within. They are one hardy people.

And what the hell right did this girl have going over and expecting a foreign military to bow to her. Why because she is an American? It is people like her that make other nations think we are snotty and self-absorbed. Their military was supposed to do what SHE- a 23 year old college student-wanted? Really?

She got what she deserved and I can only hope a few more thousand of her ilk prove that maybe Darwin had something after all.

"Everyone KNOWS that the Israelis do this to the homes of terrorists."

This "home" was not even occupied. It had been abandoned, I read.

Yes, from what I understand they Isreaeli army tends to warn people ahead of time that their house is going to be demolished- so they can leave if they are smart enough to choose to do so.

Which then even further begs the question- what was this girls deal- she died for NOTHING- except of course her own free willto be an idiot. There wasn't a precious child or oppressed women inside. It was bricks and dirt- nothing.

It was heartbreaking to find out about the death of Rachel Corrie run over by an Israeli bulldozer in Gaza. What is troubling about it is that a young woman with a fiery personality would travel to a combat zone to put her and others in a very dangerous situation. What was Rachel Corrie doing in front of a bulldozer in Gaza from all places? Israel is an American ally and an American passport does insure a preferential treatment in that country. Unfortunately, when the bullets are flying it is hard to check the identity of a person. Our president, George W. Bush, has said that in a war “some unintended casualties are inevitable”.

Gaza is the hotbed for the Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, etc. terrorists, homicide bombers that perpetuate the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The demolition of houses, as unfortunate as it is, happens to be a necessary deterrent in the conflict against the terrorists. America has gone halfway across the world to fight the terrorist evil. Israel is fighting that evil right in her own backyard. It is known that Israel gives the civilians residing in the buildings an advance notice. The innocent Israeli and even some American citizens who were blown up into pieces by the homicide Palestinian Arab terrorists did not get such notices. The Palestinian Arab leadership has integrated the killings of the innocent civilians into their strategy to defeat and destroy Israel. This is a conflict that is being waged not just on the battlefield but also in the media. In fact, it is expected that Iraq will do exactly the same.

Activism is great! However, it must be combined with a good common sense of reality. Just because Israel is a democratic, open society with more reporters per square mile than any other place on this planet, is no guarantee of safety when one departs for Gaza, the hub of the Hamas terrorists.

There are many other troubled spots in the world like Chechnya, the Indian province of Kashmir, Columbia, the Philippines, Nigeria, Somalia, etc., that require the activists’ attention. However, the networks cannot afford the liability insurance rates that are required to sent the reporters in there. Consequently, the reporting from such places is limited and does not generate the strong emotions.

The late Rachel Corrie had great and honorable intentions. Unfortunately she channeled them in the wrong direction.

Sure, we feel sorry for Rachel Corrie, but not as sorry as we would have been had she been innocent.

t not as sorry as we would have been had she been innocent.

I feel sorry that she was so small minded that she bought the bs that Palestinian terrorists are somehow "oppressed freedom fighters".

I wouldn't be at all suprised if Rachel were only badly hurt by the dozer (probably by accident), and then was finished off by some Palestinians looking to use her for "the cause."
