Camp Patriot, Kuwait (Mar. 15, 2003) -- Machinist's Mate 3rd Class Donald Weber, a recalled reservist from Dubuque, Iowa, prepares to pull the pin on a concussion grenade he will drop in the waters of the North Arabian Gulf. The exercise is a part of his grenadier certification process. In a joint training exercise with the U.S. Coast Guard, Petty Officer Weber and other Sailors assigned to Inshore Boat Unit One Three (IBU-13) completed grenadier certification recently in preparation for future operations in the Central Command Area of Responsibility. Offensive concussion grenades are used as anti-swimmer devices in port security operations. IBU-13, homeported in Portland, Ore., is deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The Red Sea (Mar. 15, 2003) -- Members of the Rapid Response Team aboard the Spruance-Class destroyer USS Deyo (DD 989) stand a reflash watch after extinguishing a class bravo fire Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF). The fire was part of an at-sea fire drill conducted by Deyo's damage control training team. Deyo is underway in the Red Sea in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
